The Corporate Technology team at Interac owns the networks and systems relied on by every Interac internal user (employees, contingent workers) and is actively driving aspects of the company’s technical operations maturity and scaling up to support Interac’s rapid growth by introducing and refining processes, new technologies and reporting. The current environment spans on premises, cloud (primarily Azure) and SaaS.
Reporting to the Director, Corporate Technology & Enterprise Asset Management, the Sr. Manager, Systems Engineering will actively participate in the Systems team’s work, both delivering Systems work and leading the Systems team. They will lead and support technology-driven engagements and contribute to the integration architecture solution, imagining and building adequate solutions to real-world problems. They will drive the creation and use of technical standards, operationalization and technological change to support business units in developing end-to-end technology delivery capabilities, enabling them through large scale organizational transformations. They will manage a small Corporate Technology network team and collaborate with other leaders in Corporate Technology and the broader Infrastructure & Operations team to enhance the network’s resiliency, efficiency and security.

Leading, supporting and inspiring a high performing team of systems engineering specialists, designing, deploying and operating corporate servers (physical and virtual), on premise and cloud infrastructure and business applications.
Driving continuous improvement and evolution in the corporate technology space, especially the operational maturity needed to scale technology as Interac grows rapidly and the rigor needed to maintain certifications such as ISO 27001.
Coordinating with department leaders, technical and business subject matter experts, and project managers to define initiatives and priorities to ensure all tasks are aligned with larger organization goals.
Leading activities to avoid or resolve business impacting incidents and problems, adhering to processes such as Incident, Problem. and Change management.
Participating in and managing on-call and production support rotations to support and troubleshoot issues off-hours.
Expanding automation and scripting to reduce manual work and human error.
Developing and agreeing to project budgets and scope by estimating costs, setting the agreed budget and managing actual and forecast costs against the budget.
Utilizing a data-driven approach to both direct reports and contracting team management to monitor for performance and execution against the team's objectives.
Defining resource requirements for the work package and anticipating and communicating resource issues and constraints, internal and external.
Managing scope of the work package ensuring requirements are clear and desired results are documented.
Developing and implementing project plans for systems engineering activities, including requirements management, with consideration and coordination of stakeholders across business units.
Overseeing annual and ongoing information technology assessments and implementing related improvements including any associated IT-related change management programs.
Benchmarking, analyzing, reporting on and making recommendations for the improvement of IT corporate service delivery.
Overseeing the sourcing, deployment, monitoring, maintenance and support of all end user hardware and software, including detailed asset tracking procedures.
Conducting evaluations of potential technology solutions.
Planning, controlling and evaluating data security, operations and processing systems, including hardware platform, procurement and redundancy.
Managing technology vendor relationships in a manner that ensures cost-effective and timely procurement of hardware, software and services.
Managing the development of management and governance practices and frameworks to ensure consistency and quality.
Bridging the gap between business and technology and communicating architecture-related concepts across business units.
Creating a shared vision and consensus for technology planning.
Creating and maintaining technology roadmaps, working closely with business clients and platform/delivery teams to understand the business problems, market and technology landscape.
Who are you?
7-9 years of hands-on professional experience with a technical leadership role.
A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent diploma/experience.
Strong technical leadership capability, and a focus on architecture excellence.
An understanding of architecture styles, technology trends and agile delivery methodologies.
In-depth technology knowledge, including experience in areas (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, C#/.NET, Java ecosystems, mobile app development, cloud technologies and services).
Security orientation with an ability to identify potential vulnerabilities and design secure systems.
Strong cloud systems experience, preferably Azure.
Relationship management, facilitation and negotiating skills and political acuity to introduce new ways of thinking and working (e.g., DevOps, Lean, Agile, Bimodal IT); to provide expert opinions and advice to partners; resolve issues; to create a shared vision and consensus.
Knowledge of project management and related systems requirements and development methodologies, to help a portfolio of very large inter-dependent projects with high complexity, risk, and organizational impact.
Experience managing a team of technical project professionals.
Strong consulting orientation, including working with stakeholders from across large organizations, excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills.
Strong analytic and problem-solving skills and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
A solid track record for leading innovation, change and transformation.
