Systems Engineering Specialist Intern

The Corporate Technology, Infrastructure Operations team powers the people behind some of Canada’s most-used payments platforms, including Interac e-Transfer. We design for 99.999% availability, ensuring Canadians can rely on Interac solutions whenever and wherever they want. Using best of breed industry strategies and predictive systems management platforms, we effectively support and monitor active, high availability infrastructure across multi regions and datacenters. We also use AIOps, combining big data and machine learning to automate IT operations processes, including event correlation, anomaly detection and causality determination to make sure you always have control over your money.

You're Great At...

• Learning new technologies and applying your new knowledge quickly 

• Providing system administration services and support for cloud infrastructure (Azure)

• Provide system administration services and support for virtualized on-prem environments (VMware)

• Installation, configuration, maintenance, and security remediation's on Windows & RHEL operating system components and system software packages

Who Are You?

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor or Diploma in Computer/IT/Systems or related field

• You’re a passionate, hard-working individual with great attention to detail and a positive attitude                                        

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to thrive in strict change-controlled and process-driven environment

• Learning technology quickly and ready for new challenges    

• Security first attitude

• Must be eligible to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a Full Time Capacity

Must Have Skills:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server roles and features such as Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP                                

• Knowledge of IP address and subnetting concepts

• Understanding of Windows and Linux servers patching (manual and automation)

• Knowledge of security remediation on servers 

Nice To Have Skills:

• Good understanding of OCI model, TCP/IP protocol suite (SNMP, SMTP, HTTP/HTTPS)

• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud and its foundation  

• Knowledge of PaloAlto firewalls  

• Knowledge of IT ticketing system and workflows (ServiceNow)

• Powershell Scripting
