Public Affairs & Corporate Communications Manager
Interac has an immediate job opening for a dynamic and experienced public affairs and communications professional to join a growing organization. Working with the Director, Government Relations & Public Affairs, you will manage the implementation of the organization’s corporate communications and public affairs strategies related to emerging business priorities like payments and digital innovation, open banking, digital verification, transit and mobility and more.
You’ll be responsible for integrating public relations strategies with the government relations mandate and identifying new opportunities to reach target audiences. You will also promote executive and corporate thought leadership through digital content and channels, while supporting business development and government engagement efforts. You’ll be part of an integrated MarComm team, working cross-functionally with other departments across the organization.

Corporate storytelling, particularly in subject areas of data, identity, and payments innovation, through executive and employee thought leaders via various communications channels - media, website, social, sponsorships, associations, community partnerships and more.
Devising and implementing communications strategies to proactively influence, educate and inform government and stakeholder audiences. This includes writing and editing content and messaging directed at government and stakeholder audiences.
Building and executing engagement plans to raise awareness and strengthen corporate reputation with key policy makers and decision-makers.
Working with internal subject matter experts to evaluate and support organization-wide responses to legislative initiatives and consultations, as well as responding to general inquiries from elected and non-elected decision makers on key issues.
Providing research, advice and counsel on the impact of policies, initiatives, trends and issues in the government and stakeholder communities to internal and external partners.
Developing and delivering programs to promote social media engagement of key decision-makers and influencers in the government and stakeholder community.
Liaising with various industry stakeholders to inform them of business initiatives and keeping up to date with relevant associations and advocacy bodies.
Supporting the management of crisis/reputational issues and response when needed both internally and externally to various stakeholders.
Leading the development and design of material for government and stakeholder engagement including presentations, briefing notes, speeches and other communications collateral to promote corporate direction and enhance organizational profile.
Who are you?
5-7 years of corporate communications, public affairs or government relations related experience.
Must be eligible to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a Full Time Capacity.
University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline like PR, journalism, public affairs, political science or economics.
Strong understanding of the Canadian government and legislative process at federal, provincial and municipal levels.
You have worked in government relations or public affairs within the government, tech or finance, and/or within a public relations agency.
You are well versed in using different digital communication mediums: written, video, etc and the platforms associated, including WordPress, social media platforms and associated analytics, design and production platforms like Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite etc.
You are a natural collaborator and build relationships easily.
You are a team player, ready to execute on multiple projects.
You thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment and can prioritize effectively.
Financial, technology or government experience is an asset.
French skills are an asset.
You are well versed in PR strategies like media relations, thought leadership and digital communications.
You are a strong writer and verbal communicator.
