Senior Technical Software Architect

You will architect, build, and lead the creation of microservice-based, mission-critical applications. You are passionate about building new features, enhancing existing products, and translating the client's business requirements into specific systems and technology solutions. As a Senior Technical Software Architect will be responsible for development and delivery of comprehensive technical solutions and supporting applications required in a variety of business and technical domains.

You will be responsible for prototyping, architecting, detailed design, coding, code review and unit testing enterprise-level applications. You will create and maintain relevant technical documentation. You have senior-level knowledge of the Java based application frameworks, design patterns, SDLC methodologies and experience working in an Agile software development environment. You’ll be responsible for directing the work of a technical team, overseeing day-to-day and long-term works.

• Developing complex, highly performant, scalable and reliable software systems (this position requires hands-on development)

• Understanding of cloud-native design principles and best practices

• Leading a small team of developers, test engineers or system engineers.

• Proactively identifying architectural weaknesses and recommending appropriate solutions, performing functional and code reviews in related areas

• Grasping the business requirements and designing the architecture.

Who are you?

• You have a University Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Must be eligible to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a Full Time Capacity

• 12+ years relevant experience

• Having comprehensive experience in leading edge technologies within functional and cross functional disciplines

• Experience as architect/development lead.

• Capable of performing investigations and evaluation of new technologies, can forecast the necessity and visibility of modifying organization’s technology strategy. Capable of building strategic and tactical roadmaps.

• Have capabilities to influences senior management in setting the organization’s technical objectives though a rational approach

• You have strong experience developing Java based applications using Spring, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, JPA, JMS, Hibernate (7 years minimum in a development position).

• Experience designing, developing and consuming the REST Web services

• Experience designing, creating and securing APIs; Web Services (SOAP/XML, REST/JSON), OAuth, JWT/JWE/JWS, WS-Security, SAML; familiar/experience with API management platforms.

• You have strong working knowledge of secure web application programming principles.

• Experience building resilient/distributed applications and you have good understanding of network protocols/concepts

• Experience developing high-throughput, low latency systems and service-oriented architectures.

• Experience in service mesh technologies such as Istio and Envoy

• Experience with microservices, containerized applications, Docker/Kubernetes, cloud technologies.

• You have strong experience using CI/CD automation/build tools (Gradle, Maven, Git, Jenkins, Teamcity, Ansible).

• You have a strong understanding of performance implications in relation to large data sets and the various approaches to mitigate.

• You have strong leadership and communication skills.

• You are self-motivated and able to learn quickly.

• Provide hands on technical guidance and leadership for development teams and responsible for the technical aspects of a solution introduced into architecture

• Oversee technical implementation of the product end to end

• Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills.

• Possess highly specialized skills to expand Interac’s technology footprint and to increase operational efficiencies in support of Interac’s business objectives

• Have a comprehensive knowledge of the industry in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business.
