Development Lead

You will architect, build and lead the creation of microservice-based, mission-critical real-time payment applications. You are passionate about building new features, enhancing existing products, and translating the client's business requirements into specific systems and technology solutions.

You will be responsible for prototyping, architecting, detailed design, coding, code review and unit testing enterprise-level applications. You will create and maintain relevant technical documentation. You have senior-level knowledge of the Java based application frameworks, design patterns, SDLC methodologies and experience working in an Agile software development environment. You’ll be responsible for directing the work of a technical team, overseeing day-to-day and long-term works.

  • Developing complex, highly performant, scalable and reliable software systems (this position requires hands-on development)

  • Understanding of cloud-native design principles and best practices

  • Building highly-available and secure API based service

  • Leading a team of developers, test engineers, system engineers and business system analyst

  • Proactively identifying architectural weaknesses and recommending appropriate solutions, performing functional and code reviews in related areas

  • Grasping the business requirements and designing the architecture

  • Working with software testing teams and assisting them in maintaining robust test scripts and test environment

Who are you?

  • You have a University Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Must be eligible to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a Full Time Capacity

  • 7 years minimum experience in a software development position

  • 2-3 years of experience as an architect/development lead

  • Strong experience developing Java based applications using Spring, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, JPA, JMS, Hibernate

  • Experience designing, developing and consuming the REST Web services

  • Experience designing, creating and securing APIs; Web Services (SOAP/XML, REST/JSON), OAuth, JWT/JWE/JWS, WS-Security, SAML; familiar/experience with API management platforms

  • Strong working knowledge of secure web application programming principles

  • Experience building resilient/distributed applications and you have good understanding of network protocols/concepts

  • Experience developing high-throughput, low latency systems and service-oriented architectures.

  • Experience in service mesh technologies such as Istio and Envoy

  • experience with microservices, containerized applications, Docker/Kubernetes, cloud technologies.

  • Strong experience using CI/CD automation/build tools

  • Strong understanding of performance implications in relation to large data sets and the various approaches to mitigate

  • Strong leadership and communication skill

  • Self-motivated and able to learn quickly

  • Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills

  • You’re able to keep pace with new technologies and to apply them appropriately
