PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To capture, analyze, and progress supplemental activity (carload and intermodal) to ensure accurate assessments of charges and ensure timely collection of all amounts due on customer accounts while maintaining a strong client relationship.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Review & analyze incoming inventory events (i.e. asset use, special requests, switches, etc.) to progress with timely and accurate supplemental invoicing
- Work with stakeholders in Finance, Car Management and Operations to resolve inventory/process issues that impact full and accurate supplemental invoicing
- Drill into root cause and resolve complex issues
- Provide support for timely resolution of customer disputes
- Respond to customer inquiries which may also involve leading sessions to resolve issues
- Monitor customer accounts, proactively lead, and initiate collection activity to ensure timely collection of CP receivables, protecting Days Sales Outstanding and total AR balances.
- Facilitate business process improvement by identifying issues and implementing solutions
- Protect CP’s value by keeping information confidential
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or Business Administration or equivalent is an asset
- 5+ years of experience in an invoicing/collection role; preferably in the transportation industry
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office is required; SAP knowledge would be an asset
- Highly effective communicator, confident, passionate, clear, respectfully assertive, and inspiring
- Strong ability to hold self and others accountable to deliver results
- Displays emotional intelligence; demonstrates self-awareness and remains calm under pressure; expresses confidences in ability to succeed; keeps an optimistic attitude even when things are not going well
