The role
As a Release Deployment Specialist, you will be part of a dynamic high performing interactive team. In this role, along with other responsibilities, you will be accountable for managing and coordinating the deployment of intergraded release, planning and scheduling of integrated changes in pre-production & production environments and driving teams the coordination of changes for each release.
A typical day
• Planning, coordinating and scheduling releases of pre-production & production environments, including managing conflicts, risks, impacts and dependencies.
• Collaborating and driving teams during release technical meetings, host triage war rooms for issue management, deployment planning sessions in collaboration with teams.
• Creating release deployment plans, providing timelines for release build and test, including dependencies of tasks and rollback strategies.
• Create change requests and related documentation for release build and deployments using enterprise tools. (ServiceNow & JIRA)
• Metric collection and reporting for releases (deployment, incidents raised during deployment windows etc.)
• Conduct retrospectives and post deployment reviews.
• Communicating and reporting on all change implementations.
• Conduct assessments of release deployments in collaboration with teams.
• Tracking, identifying, communicating & coordinating all release-related tasks between different teams of defect backlogs & planned release scope.
• Tracking, identifying, and reporting on risks, impacts, dependencies, and critical path of release deliverables, to ensure quality of release is not impacted.
• Tracking, conducting reviews, assessments and managing release change control process, to ensure release schedule, quality, risks, and impacts are controlled.
• Tracking & driving domain teams in providing on-time defect resolution within the SLA criteria set for releases, while supporting & ensuring quality management team in achieving planned test strategy for the release.
• Escalating & reporting project & backlog that do not meet readiness criteria which impact release schedule and quality.
• Collaborating and driving teams during release technical meetings, host triage war rooms for issue management, in collaboration with teams.
• Hosting & communicating outcomes/outputs of release meetings and sessions (daily stand-ups, release technical meetings, triage war rooms for issue management, planning sessions, etc.)
Your skills/experience
• Telecommunication industry experience.
• Software Development Life Cycle & Software Test Life Cycle Delivery & support experience
• Familiar with Agile methodologies
• Familiar with ITIL processes and best practices & associated tools (ServiceNow, Jira or similar)
• Deployment tools (Example: Jenkins, TeamCity or similar)
• Basic DB skills
• Debugging skills (example: logs through Splunk or similar tools)
• Be able to gather metrics and reporting of releases deployments.
• Conduct retrospectives and post deployment reviews.
• Ability to track release health during the release cycle with Release & QA team for each release (defects carried forward, smoke testing in staging environments, etc.)
• Communications of all release deployments from begin to closure.
• Ability to assess and manage all release collaterals (change requests, release plans, build and test plans, deployment plans, etc.) in collaboration with Wireless teams.
• Ability to assess and review all impacts, risks, dependencies, and critical path of release deployments in collaboration with teams.
