Recruitment and Alumni Officer

Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity aims to inspire everyone who attends our campus – artists, leaders, and thinkers – to unleash their creative potential.

The Opportunity

This is a termed position until July 2024.

Reporting to the Manager, Admissions and Recruitment, and working in concert with the Arts and Leadership and Marketing departments, the Recruitment & Alumni Officer is part of a team that leads the program recruitment process from strategy creation and planning, to researching promotion avenues, website program page creation, implementation, and evaluation. The goal of this position is to generate increased understanding and appreciation of our programing and to drive application and registrations, as well as foster on-going relationships with participants and alumni throughout their experience with Banff Centre.​ 

Specific Accountabilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Actively implement strategies and tactics related to participant recruitment.

  • Collaborate with marketing and program departments in the development of effective recruitment strategies and timelines.

  • Research desired markets and set goals and objectives for reaching prospective and current target groups.

  • Identify and actively connect with relevant external organizations to ensure they are informed about Banff Centre programming.

  • Manage the logistics and day to day scheduling of recruitment related events and activity (both on and offsite) that support all programs.

  • Represent Banff Centre at targeted outreach and promotional networking events.

  • Build and strengthen relationships with participants and alumni to ensure a smooth, effective and meaningful experience.

  • Provide reports to the team around recruitment activity, providing regular updates about trends, risks, and opportunities.

  • Manage any program inquires that require more in-depth knowledge of program content and experiences to help guide the application/registration phase for individuals.

  • Lead in the creation and editing of program content requirements for the website in conjunction with other Recruitment Officers, Program Managers and Marketing.

  • Lead the development and maintenance of relevant contact databases/CRM.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • University undergraduate degree or diploma in communications, marketing, public relations, humanities, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in recruitment, marketing, communications, the arts, educational sector, or a related field is required.
  • Experience with recruitment, communications, marketing, and database management is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships, and work on projects, with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative and copy editing skills.
  • Able to take initiative, make decisions and solve problems creatively.  
  • Technical skill editing and managing website content and an understanding of how to maximize searchability is desired, or an aptitude for learning in this area.
  • CRM database management experience strongly preferred.
  • Curiosity and an appetite for learning and continual self-development.
  • Experience working with diverse communities, in particular Indigenous communities, is an asset.

Employment Terms and Benefits

  • In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, salaried support staff position, subject to a 6 month probation period. Please note, the job description for this position is currently under review.
  • This is a termed position until July 2024
  • The annual salary for this position is $42,213 based on working 30 hours per week.   
  • The successful candidate will have access to a range of benefits through Alberta Blue Cross and will be eligible to participate in our defined benefit pension plan.

  • We are accepting applications for the Recruitment and Alumni Officer position until a suitable candidate has been found.
  • Candidates offered a position with Banff Centre, in this capacity, will be required to obtain a criminal record check through the local RCMP detachment, verifying a clear record.
  • Visa Requirements: Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Banff Centre is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
