Position Role: Quantitative Trader

Summary:

The nature of finance is changing, and RBC Capital Markets is looking to recruit the next generation of Quantitative Traders to drive innovation in equity trading.  Leveraging quantitative research using a mixture of sophisticated statistical techniques and AI, in combination with software engineering and trading, Quantitative Traders are responsible for conceptualizing and building sophisticated trading strategies.  If solving complex problems in a fast-paced and exciting environment with a group of passionate and like-minded individuals appeals to you, the Electronic Market Making group is looking for you.

What will you do?

  • Research, create, and implement quantitative trading strategies using optimization and cutting-edge machine learning techniques

  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to expand existing algorithms that trade millions of shares and thousands of times a second

  • Automation, optimization and re-engineering of desk processes and tools to increase efficiency

  • Daily management of trading portfolios to ensure that risk is appropriately managed

  • Analyze market data and trends to investigate previously unexplored structural research areas

  • Think critically and creatively within a collaborative and close-knit team working on Canada's largest trading floor

Core Competencies:

  • Passion for quantitative research, software engineering and mathematics

  • Extensive object-oriented programming experience (Java/Python/C++)

  • Strong background in mathematics, statistics and machine learning

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Bachelor/Master/PhD degree in Engineering/Computer Science/Mathematics/Statistics or related field

  • Experience in finance NOT required
