The Opportunity:
WSP is currently seeking a Project Engineer, to expand our Water & Wastewater Infrastructure group in the Lower Mainland (Flexible locations). Reporting to the Director, the successful candidate will be involved in a range of significant infrastructure projects, including large-diameter pipelines, pump stations, treatment plants, and other water, wastewater, and stormwater projects.

A day in the life:
- Undertake a wide variety of engineering assignments related to water and wastewater projects, including pipelines, reservoirs, pump stations, flood protection works, and treatment plants
- Have a solid technical background and ready to start managing projects and clients
- Communicate with the team and with clients on assignment status and identify issues early
- Take initiative in business development, your own personal growth, and improving project delivery
- Provide mentorship to junior staff (engineers, technologists, drafting)
- Adhere to WSP’s quality, project management, and health & safety policies
- Undertake or direct project control systems on larger projects
- Develop project management skills
- Other duties as assigned
What you'll bring to WSP ...
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an accredited University specializing in water or wastewater treatment is preferred; a Masters Degree would be considered a major asset
- Professional Engineer registered with EGBC (or eligible to transfer registration to EGBC)
- Minimum 6 years of professional experience as an engineering professional
- Passionate about working in the water-related engineering environment
- Technical skills should be municipal-related and would typically include the following
- Planning and designing water mains, treatment facilities, reservoirs and pump stations
- Hydraulic analysis
- Work in a multidisciplinary environment
- Developing specifications and cost estimates
- Construction-related work such as field reviews and contract administration
- Proven task management experience in a multidisciplinary environment on water and wastewater related projects
- Experienced in working with and delivering projects for Metro Vancouver would be an asset
- Results orientated, with a reputation for, and demonstrated achievement of key strategic priorities
- Strong organizational ability to optimize and prioritize conflicting demands in a busy environment, to achieve deadlines and see responsibilities through to completion
- Ability to work effectively and competently with people at all levels in the organisation; is a great team member
- A skilled communicator who uses a wide range of techniques to influence technical outcomes and maintains a network of technical contacts of commercial benefit
- Innovative thinker willing to explore the application of new technologies for water and wastewater systems
- Ability to work with technical and management staff in offices across WSP
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- The ability to deliver new business and revenue opportunities
