The PLATO team is comprised of engineers, problem solvers, agilists and creatives in roles such as Enterprise Platform Engineering and Architecture, Enterprise Data Services, Cloud Infrastructure and Architecture, Product Engineering, and Product Management. Scotiabank has begun the journey to modernize both development practices and tools. Scotiabank's Platform Organization (PLATO) is a development platform, which drives velocity, service enablement and reusability. It's an integrated set of technical products encapsulating critical enterprise capabilities, automated processes, and social architecture to enable high-velocity application development.

 

The aim is to reduce costs by providing a streamlined process and framework which will allow the development team to focus on building business logic.  We are looking to build our team with influencers, makers, creators and industry leaders who will drive us forward and enhance the experience of our customers.

 

 

Purpose of Job:

Reporting into the Global Head of Product Management, the Product Manager will optimize the value of PLATO products and services to Scotiabank's application teams in an engaging, functional way, while also optimizing the Product Management team's deliverables aligned to PLATO's goals, key result areas (KRAs), and KPIs.  The successful candidate will work creatively and pragmatically to conserve resources and engage our product markets.   In this role, there is ample opportunity for the candidate to work with inspiring leaders and immerse themselves in initiatives that are meaningful and make an impact.

 

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Familiarize yourself with PLATO's product components and their potential impact on our market segments
  • Create mission statement for product launch and forecast product performance in individual channels – this include market launch strategy, training plans, communications
  • Monitor the product line, service, or feature delivery & technology release life cycle and anticipate any problems affecting product launch
  • Prepare product, service, and feature launch events to coincide with market segment adoption patterns
  • Present product content in a way that establishes rapport, addresses the needs of stakeholders, and achieves consensus at all levels aligned to PLATO goals, key result areas (KRAs), and KPIs
  • Lead an integrated product team delivering solutions, practices, and processes related to evaluating, improving, and facilitation market segment success aligned to PLATO's product performance targets, PLATO goals, KRAs, and KPIs
  • Build and maintain relationships with PLATO product market segment teams, PLATO business operations, technology release and engineering teams, cloud operations, Enterprise Architecture
  • Prepare and present executive updates on assigned products and services
  • Facilitate appropriate escalation of risks and issues to Product leadership team

 

 

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • 5+ years senior role in an appropriate field
  • Knowledge of the Cloud market and industry
  • Solid applied experience in product management, product marketing, stakeholder management
  • Strong presentation, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy to understand business terms to all levels of management
  • Ability to effectively, and independently, manage multiple competing priorities with high attention to detail
  • Superior leadership skills, demonstrated by previous professional success
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with ability to build and foster relationships
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with proven creative and critical thinking capabilities

 

Bonus Skills:

  • Bachelor (equivalent or higher) degree in Marketing, Business, or related discipline
  • 2-3 years of banking/financial industry experience
