Highlights of the job   
We are hiring one (1) Procurement Associate position (Permanent, Full Time) working out of the Hugh J. Bolton Service Centre with EPCOR Distribution & Transmission Inc. in Edmonton, AB.
This is a great opportunity for a team-oriented individual with excellent negotiation and communication skills to grow their Supply Chain Management career in EPCOR’s Electricity Operations. The Procurement Analyst position is the most senior procurement role reporting to the Procurement Manager.
As the Procurement Associate, you are accountable for the day-to-day Procurement functions, including providing purchasing and sourcing expertise for the Electricity Operations’ Business Units. In addition, you will meet operational needs while reducing risk, providing favorable pricing, delivery, and terms and conditions for goods and services. This includes achieving compliance with company policies, trade agreements, and procurement best practices.    
The position will include a focus on various goods and services requirements in addition to some engineering requirements which then transition into construction requirements through various procurement methodologies. While design-bid- build methods are mainly utilized an increase in using other methodologies such as design- build, progressive design build, construction management at risk and integrated project delivery are increasingly being used. Experience with these types of requirements and/or procurement methodologies will be an asset, although not necessarily required.     
What’s required to be successful. 
  • A two-year post-secondary diploma in Supply Chain Management or a business-related field is required (equivalent experience may be considered) 
  • A four-year post-secondary degree (i.e. Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, etc.) from a recognized educational institute is considered an asset 
  • 1+ years of experience in category-based buying and negotiating contracts or directly related experience is required 
  • A purchasing designation (e.g. SCMP) or working toward a designation is considered an asset 
  • Knowledge and experience in assisting in negotiating commercial terms and conditions and competitive bidding laws 
  • Understanding of entire procurement process starting with the identification of need through to contract execution and supplier relationship management 
  • Previous experience in a utilities company or large corporation similar to EPCOR is considered an asset 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.) 
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Oracle or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software 
  • Ability to apply: 
    • Competitive bidding law to develop and administer effective competitive bids 
    • Contract law and terms and conditions required to develop agreements 
    • Risk management tools and skills 
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills 
  • Demonstrated ability in the application of supplier management tools and skills 
  • Ability to effectively assist in negotiating with suppliers and 3rd parties to create value for the business 
  • Understanding of the entire procurement process starting with the identification of need through to contract execution and supplier relationship management 
  • Able to effectively communicate and contribute in a team and/or project environment 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively present material and recommendations to a variety of audiences in both formal and informal settings

You collaborate with others and look for opportunities to work smarter and improve processes. You take initiative, adapt to change and take pride in the work you do.

Class: T1 
Wage: Starting at $39.23 per hour. Placement is based on qualifications, credentials and experience. These rates may change subject to ratification of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. 
Hours of work: 75 hours biweekly
