The opportunity

Exciting opportunity to join a collaborative team of global Growth Equity investors as a Principal within the Global Portfolio Strategy (GPS) team focused on Value Creation initiatives. The GPS team is responsible for creating significant value across the global TVG portfolio, promoting global horizontal connectivity, strategic capability and a relationship-centric approach that thinks beyond the “deal” timeframe.

The position will actively engage with portfolio companies to identify key valuation creation needs. In addition, the Principal will further assist the senior leadership in developing an ecosystem of strategic and corporate networks, internal collaboration initiatives, and unlocking opportunities to leverage TVG’s relationships, expertise and investments to drive value for OTPP. Additionally, the Principal will be accountable for delivering and assisting strategic projects related to climate change, conferences/events, and refining the portfolio oversight process.

Who you'll work with

You will work in a multifaceted team-based environment, providing direct support to the Director, GPS and TVG senior members. You will have the opportunity to develop strategic relationships with the global market. This role will require an individual with a natural curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit, and the ability to be highly collaborative to achieve results. 

What you'll do

You will focus on value creation initiatives within and across our portfolio companies. You will partner with deal teams to identify and support key value creation requirements:

  • Collaborate closely with the deal teams to capture value creation needs and prioritize the abilities of TVG and GPS to assist and create impact

  • Support the development of nascent value creation capabilities that demonstrably contribute to portfolio company success

  • Build effective partnerships with key stakeholders globally, including corporates, founders, institutional investors, global banks and other service provides

  • Build a comprehensive board and talent database to fill TVG board seats 

  • Leverage capabilities and endowments across TVG and OTPP

  • Help to continue to build TVG global advisory network that functions both as a key external differentiator and as an internal resource for both origination and strategic information

Across the TVG portfolio you will:

  • Identify best-in-class practices that could be applied across many portfolio companies  

  • Continue to refine the portfolio oversight process to assess opportunities for risk management and value creation across our portfolio

  • Support TVG and OTPP strategic projects such as the leadership conference and climate change  initiatives

  • Contribute and build TVG’s external brand

What you'll need

  • University graduate, preferably in business, economics, finance or related

  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in value creation, consulting or portfolio management. Venture and Growth Equity experience is valued

  • Confident, articulate professional with exceptional networking skills and a proven track record of building relationships externally

  • Exposure to value creation in a direct investment context, possibly through M&A and integration activity or in a private equity environment is valued

  • Ability to think strategically, find opportunities and link initiatives to a company’s broader business strategy

  • Excellent analytical skills to perform in-depth financial analysis is preferred and assess relative risk-adjusted opportunities

  • Strong project management and facilitation skills in order to execute effectively

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills

  • Outstanding prioritization skills and able to balance competing priorities

  • High-energy, ambitious, innovative approach to problem solving

  • Willingness and ability to travel to portfolio companies and OTPP offices, as required
