Postdoctoral Fellowship in
the School of Nursing - Strengthening a Palliative Approach to Care in Long-term Care program

 

Overview

 

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the School of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences.

 

Qualifications

 

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our team in advancing an exciting program of research centred on  a palliative approach to care in the long-term care sector.

 

An ideal candidate would be an experienced scientist who has:

 

a. completed their Ph.D. in public health, nursing, health sciences or a related field within the last 5 years

 

b. a strong methodological background in both qualitative and quantitative methodology

 

c. a strong track record of collecting, analyzing (e.g., use of NVivo/Dedoose, SAS/SPSS/R), and publishing qualitative and quantitative data

 

d. experience collaborating with others in the healthcare sector, with an emphasis on long-term care and end of life research.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

 

The candidate will support Dr. Sharon Kaasalainen’s research focusing on a palliative approach to care in long-term care, funded through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). This work aims to improve the quality of life at end of life within a long-term care setting.  The candidate would be responsible for collaborating on multiple projects, both national and international, with Dr. Kaasalainen (School of Nursing, McMaster University) and an inter-disciplinary team of researchers and public health professionals. The candidate will be responsible for project management, leading data collection (e.g., focus groups, interviews, survey) and data analysis and knowledge mobilization activities.

 

Duration and Funding

 

The term of the fellowship is one year with possibility of renewal for an additional two years. Selection will be based upon the candidate's research potential and the skills and experience that they would bring to our team and the School of Nursing.
