Your Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pipeline/Mechanical/Process Designer and Drafter with a minimum of 10 years of experience. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, be proficient in AutoCAD and Microstation, familiar with BIM platform and 3D designing systems, and have knowledge of French in addition to great command of English. The candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced environment, be well organized, positive, and willing to expand his or her horizons.
The position will be located in Waterloo or Markham, Ontario.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Perform the drafting activities of energy and industrial projects, including Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (PIDs), General Arrangements, Alignment sheets, mechanical drawings, plot plans, and isometric drawings.
- Ensure that all drafting work is completed accurately, on time, and within budget.
- Review and check drafting work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards and codes.
- Provide technical guidance and support to drafting personnel.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and designers to ensure that all drafting work is coordinated with project requirements.
- Coordinate with external contractors and vendors to ensure that all drafting work is completed to the required standards.
- Ensure that all drafting work is properly documented and stored in accordance with project requirements.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure that project deadlines are met.
- Perform thorough quality control (QA/QC) of models and sheet files for standards compliance, discipline coordination and ensures comments have been addressed by the responsible CAD Technician and others as required.
- Utilize MS Office applications, including MS Project, to manage drafting schedules and budgets.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in drafting software and technology.
- Train and/or mentor CAD staff and entry-level engineers in company procedures, CAD standards, and software.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in drafting pipeline/piping, mechanical and process projects.
- Working knowledge of software programs including Autodesk and Bentley products including but not limited to Autocad, Civil 3D, Revit, Infraworks, Autodesk Recap, Navisworks, Autocad Electrical, Autocad PID, Microstation, Inroads, Descartes, Navigator, OPM and OPPID.
- Familiarity with BIM platform and 3D designing systems.
- Excellent communication skills in English, and French proficiency is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work with pointclouds to model existing facilities and features.
- Sound pipeline/piping design knowledge.
- Ability to translate process and instrumentation drawings into physical layouts.
- Ability to coordinate and work with other disciplines.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn and expand horizons.
- Ability to work extended hours and travel internationally as required.
- Excellent MS Office skills, including MS Project and standard applications.
- Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Education and Experience
Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 8-10 years of experience.
Typical office environment working with computers at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
