Job Summary:

You are an Equipment Operator with 1-3+ years of experience using a mini-excavator in underground utility construction working on Outside Plant (OSP) construction. You will perform general labour duties and collaborate with the other crew members to complete work safely and efficiently, under the direction of the foreman.

Essential Responsibilities:

• driving various types of vehicles and trucks
• Perform some labourer duties to support the Civil Team.
• Manage the vehicles and its actions
• responsible for identifying weight as to not exceed vehicle requirements
• Load and unload heavy equipment in a secure and damage free manner
• Transport cargo and/or equipment utilizing various combinations of truck and trailer
• Use various types of equipment to move and install material
• General site preparation and clean-up as directed
• Complete the Driver’s daily pre-trip, on-route and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Complete the Driver’s logbook, accident or incident reports
• Maintaining a clean and orderly vehicle (interior and exterior) digging/holes and trenches, pulling cable
• Operating tools and equipment
• General site preparation and clean-up as directed

Requirements:

• Experience working in the underground utility construction, civil construction or landscaping is an asset
• Capable of reading underground telecommunication plans and work maps is an asset
• At least 2-3 years of Mini-excavator experience in the field in telecom or constructio
• Experience operating and maintaining skid steers and backhoes an asset
• Strong time management skills with the ability to attend to a broad range of activities
• Technically adept with a strong ability to learn quickly, analyze information, and problem solve
• Clean drivers abstract
