In this fast-paced role, you will be an integral member of our maintenance reliability group at our Edmonton refinery, where you will be responsible for the fixed pressure equipment and records in the assigned unit of responsibility.

You will use your expertise to:

  • Ensure all pressure equipment is designed, fabricated, operated, inspected, maintained, altered, and repaired in a manner that provides pressure equipment integrity conforming to required regulations and standards
  • Manage core inspection programs, which includes both the creation and execution of inspection plans
  • Communicate and address daily issues with the area operations and central maintenance teams
  • Participate in root-cause investigations and analysis, hazard screening and materials selection processes
  • Direct contract inspection resources
  • Assist maintenance processes with shutdown planning and inspection support
  • Provide technical direction in an area team environment for fixed equipment

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

  • Three years of experience working as an inspector / materials technologist
  • A post-secondary education in materials or welding (materials or welding technology diploma)
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record
  • The ability to anticipate potential problems and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions, and have a strong sense of accountability
  • Alignment with our values of: safety above all else, respect, raise the bar, commitments matter and do the right thing

Preference for:

  • Hands-on inspection experience in a refinery or petrochemical facility
  • API 510 certification, with certification or eligibility for ABSA IPV or IBPV 
  • API 570, API 653, and CGSB NDT certifications
  • Working knowledge of API codes (ideally API 936,579, 580, 581)
  • Knowledge of root-cause analysis, non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques, welding processes, and basic metallurgy
  • Knowledgeable on the application of asset integrity strategies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill as well as strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

  • You will work out of our Edmonton refinery in Sherwood Park, located at 801 Petroleum Way
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • This position is safety sensitive
