We are currently recruiting for a permanent Marketing Communications Specialist. This role is in a hybrid structure and is working 2 days from our office in Burnaby and 3 days at home each week.
Job Summary
Under the broad managerial direction of the Manager, provides creative marketing services in the design and delivery of quality marketing projects to internal business owners in accordance with established price, product messaging and PBC promotion strategies. Provides communication support to PBC leaders in addressing customer concerns. Identifies and participates in the strategic planning of community impact programs. Builds internal networks.
Job Duties
Marketing Project Design and Delivery
- Provides creative marketing services in the design and delivery of quality marketing projects to internal business owners in accordance with established price, product messaging and PBC promotion strategies by:
- reviewing briefing notes and work schedules to identify business owner requirements, determine the best approach to secure audience engagement through a wide variety of promotional tactics and channels best suited to the product or service, and to plan project execution;
- consulting and collaborating with business owners, leaders and specialists across the organization throughout project execution to ensure deliverables meet objectives, to facilitate alignment with branding and corporate messaging strategies, and to provide ongoing briefings on project status;
- designing the overall format and content of the marketing collateral chosen to convey messaging such as advertising copy, social media tools, written news releases and video scripts, consistent with PBC’s brand and style guidelines;
- collaborating with Graphic Designers where specialized expertise is required to produce graphic materials for specific projects, and proofing final designs;
- facilitating agreement between multiple project stakeholders where differing viewpoints on approach, messaging, presentation or other facets of project execution exist;
- attending and actively participating in regular project status meetings to identify and refer challenges where timing and/or resource constraints are encountered during project execution
- conducting project sign off upon completion.
- Collaborates with external vendors including PBC’s advertising agency and non-agency suppliers such as video crews and photographers to represent the organization’s marketing vision and influence the outcomes of marketing activities such as on site photo shoots to ensure PBC’s image is consistently and accurately represented to external customers.
Media Relations
- Provides communications support to PBC leaders where situations such as customer complaints or observations received through a variety of channels including social media have potential or actual impact on public perception by authoring responses in consultation with senior marketing managers or escalating issues according to established protocols.
- Prepares and edits press releases for review by marketing managers prior to publication.
Community Impact (Event Production and Sponsorships)
- Identifies and participates in the strategic planning of community impact programs including sponsorships and events, to increase public awareness of PBC as a health and wellness organization.
Building Internal Networks
- Proactively pursues, establishes and maintains networks with internal contacts to ensure knowledge on PBC’s insurance products and services, upcoming initiatives, and external factors affecting competitive advantage in PBC’s marketplace is current and relevant. Identifies current and future trends, and collaborates with team members and senior management to capitalize on marketing opportunities and ideas to increase market penetration within available human and financial resources.
- Using the basic features of word processing, spreadsheet or presentation software, produces a variety of documents including docketing project progress and generating a variety of status reports on project and department activities from existing templates.
- On an as needed basis, performs selected functions of the Graphic Designer by completing graphic design assignments using basic design tools.
- As a member of the Marketing Team, provides input into the development and maintenance of PBC/BCL’s corporate brand identity, and contributes to the development and enhancement of processes and procedures within the department.
- Maintains up to date knowledge of communications approaches and processes through continuous learning initiatives.
- On a one to one basis, may support new employees by demonstrating the execution of specific tasks and duties, and sharing knowledge and experience on request.
- Performs other assigned duties related to the provision of corporate communications services which do not affect the rating of the job.
Qualifications
- Minimum two year college or school of technology diploma from a recognized program in Marketing Management with an emphasis on Marketing Communication or equivalent
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of basic Word, basic Excel, basic PowerPoint, and Adobe in Design MAC 1
- A minimum of 4 years previous related experience in a marketing communications role including:
- Demonstrated experience in creative and business writing with an emphasis on proactive marketing of business products
- Experience developing and coordinating communications campaigns involving multiple stakeholders
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills
