What is the opportunity?

RBC Economics and Thought Leadership aims to build a prosperous and innovative future by harnessing ideas, insights and data to help RBC clients and communities understand the forces shaping the world around us.

Our team of economists and researchers deliver economic analyses, comprehensive reports and conversations with world-leading thinkers that inspire and empower informed decisions in an evolving world including:

  • In-depth research reports on sustainable growth, climate change, innovation and human capital

  • Timely analysis and forecasts of the economy and financial markets

  • Quarterly economic updates and monthly Canadian housing analysis

  • An ongoing series of conversations with leading thinkers about reimagining Canada’s economy

We are hiring a Managing Editor to work with our economists and researchers to develop insightful economics and thought leadership content. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of the Canadian economy and the key issues that shape our national agenda. This person has strong capabilities in editorial writing, translating data and trends and digital content curation across channels and audiences. They are skilled at developing clear and engaging narratives from complicated economic and business research.

What will you do?

  • Work with economists and researchers to develop insightful and economics and thought leadership content

  • Provide editorial advice and consultation across a range of issues that shape the our national agenda

  • Manage and edit multiple publications including a daily global news briefing and bi-weekly economics insights

  • Provide substantive and grammatical editing to longer form thought leadership reports

  • Lead and curate content across economics and thought leadership webpages

  • Deploy content to key audiences using digital best practices

  • Ensure a high quality and consistent standard across all material

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have 

  • 8+ years’ experience in managing editorial content within a business context

  • A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional writing and editing skills with an economic / business lens

  • Proven track record of working in a fast-paced environment to deliver real-time content across channels and audiences

  • Advanced story-telling ability 

  • Experience with digital writing while following SEO best practices

  • Ability to write for multiple audiences and clients on a variety of topics

  • An ability to grasp and communicate new concepts and topics quickly and effectively

Nice-to-have

  • Previous experience in a large, global leading Financial Institution or consulting firm

  • Experience in business journalism
