The opportunity
The Managing Director, Fund Risk Insights leads a team in assessing the investment risk at OTPP. This role brings a broad perspective on investment strategy, macroeconomic and geopolitical considerations to the assessment of, and independent challenge of, investment risk. Reporting to the Senior Managing Director (Investment Risk), this individual would influence key internal stakeholders such as Total Fund Management (TFM), senior asset class leaders, and with other teams, both within the Risk division and other functional partners.
Who you'll work with
Develops and leads relationships across the Investment teams especially TFM Leads and individual asset class leaders.
Leads interactions with interdepartmental and cross-departmental committees / working groups to provide subject matter expertise and analysis. May interact with the Board on an ad hoc basis
Works closely with Risk leaders to form an integrated, interconnected view, on risks in the context of an evolving macro, geopolitical and investment strategy context.
What you'll do
Maintain an expert level understanding of investment markets and strategies used by portfolio managers across OTPPs asset classes.
Work with Investment leaders to understand, and to bring an independent perspective to the assessment of risks of TFM and investment department strategies including within the annual Investment Plan and its ongoing execution.
Play a leadership role and work closely with key senior stakeholders in independently assessing the risks of new investment strategies and/or tactical decisions.
Develop an independent perspective on the evolving external environment to help identify emerging and strategic risks.
Work with Enterprise Risk Management to bring an integrated perspective on assessing the material risks, and related mitigation strategies, that have a broader Fund impact such as climate change and strategic risk considerations.
Influence Investments and Risk leaders on the consideration of risk scenarios and mitigation strategies.

Be responsible for multiple streams of activities and research and with time sensitive deadlines, ensuring accurate and value added outcomes for each.
A respected voice of influence in leadership discussions who will contribute valuable ideas, opinions, and feedback.
