The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the U.S. Head of Model Risk Management in the ongoing enhancement and execution of the U.S. Model Risk Management Framework. The Framework encompasses Model Risk oversight, reporting, governance, communication, and education. The incumbent provides independent oversight and challenge as well as develops the methodologies, policies, process, tools, and reporting to support the Model Risk Management Framework.
The U.S. Model Risk Management Framework will ensure model risk methodologies and processes are appropriately governed while providing value to the Bank’s business lines and ensuring consistency with the FRB’s Guidance on Model Risk (SR 11-7). The incumbent will help manage day-to-day inquiries of the model inventory, support regulatory / audit requests and complete regular internal reporting requirements.
Is this role right for you? You will be responsible for:
- Drive a customer-focused culture throughout the U.S. operations to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Manage the bank’s global model inventory to include all models in use by Scotiabank US as well as relevant metadata on models. Perform quality assurance reviews periodically and proactively engage with stakeholders to ensure the inventory remains accurate.
- Champion the U.S. Model Risk Management Framework and align with U.S. industry standard practices; while acting as a subject matter expert for U.S. model governance and compliance.
- Support reporting requirements for Model Risk and potentially all of U.S. Enterprise Risk as well.
Do you have the skills you need to succeed? We'd love to work with you, if you have:
- A minimum of 3 year experience working in a enterprise risk, reporting or model risk audit role at a financial institution
- Working knowledge of Capital Markets and current regulatory environment in the Financial Service Industry
- A university degree in business, related field or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred.
- Strong communications, analytical, organizational, and project management skills
- Thorough practical knowledge of MSOffice (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other related productivity tools; ability to code/script is a plus
- Be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbal and written with all levels including branch staff, operational and executive management and regulators
- Be able to listen, understand and negotiate to convince senior management when introducing new ideas and legislated policy recommendations for action or change.
- Ability to work independently within minimal supervision.
