The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the U.S. AML Risk Governance, Strategic Initiatives, & Policy team’s remit of facilitating the governance, strategic plan, and regulatory health of the U.S. AML Program. This includes the provision of strong oversight with regard to management information and regulatory reporting, committee deliverables, issues management, and policy and procedure management.
Is this role right for you? You will be responsible for:
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Develops key reporting for the U.S. AML Risk Function. Incumbent will work with subject matter experts within U.S. AML Risk to support the U.S. Governance, Strategic Initiatives, and Policies team in effective challenge and execution of their reporting mandate. Incumbent will work with the Operational Risk Oversight group to report KRIs and KPIs pertaining to the U.S. AML Risk organization.
- Supports the day-to-day responsibilities associated with the U.S. AML Risk Issue Management process, including maintaining controls on the Issue Management tool and associated process, updating the tool as needed, and working with stakeholders to develop and review closure memos and artifacts. Incumbent is also responsible for maintaining access to the Issue Management Tool.
- Provides support for all regulator and audit examinations, including tracking and assisting in packaging artifacts. Incumbent will develop and report to senior management on progress and milestone completion with regard to annual regulator examinations and internal preparatory activities for same, as needed.
- Supports the maintenance and governance of all U.S. AML Risk Department Policies and Procedures, working with stakeholders to ensure alignment with GBM and Enterprise policies, as well as U.S. regulatory requirements.
- Conducts horizon scanning for regulatory updates pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC regulations, and any other regulations which may impact the Bank.
- Support the development and preparation of presentations and providing timely support for the creation of relevant regulator, management and risk working group and committee packet materials and meeting minutes, as assigned.
- Learn and improve (when possible) existing processes on a continuing basis.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills you need to succeed? We'd love to work with you, if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, finance, criminal justice, law or similar field. Advanced degrees or professional banking licenses/ designations preferred.
- ACAMS certification preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience, or educational equivalent, in financial crimes compliance or business administration within a financial institution setting or professional services/ management consulting firm.
- Strong and demonstrated experience in program/project management, including action plan design, tracking and execution.
- Expert management presentation skills and comfort dealing with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Prior regulatory and audit exam management experience strongly preferred.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint required.
- Proficiency with Sharepoint, PowerBI, python, or other data visualization a plus.
