Sustainable investment plays a pivotal role in Ivanhoé Cambridge’s strategic plan. Our portfolio will grow in the coming years, and so too will our ambitions to lead in critical areas of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) matters.
The Sustainable Investment team is in charge of leading key ESG-related initiatives, working closely with internal and external teams across all elements of the real estate investment cycle. This includes integration of ESG factors in the investment and asset management process, developing and implementing important initiatives aimed at improving our portfolio’s environmental and social impacts while providing strong financial performance to our beneficiaries.
This role will strengthen and advance our ESG practices and skills, heavily focusing on the Canadian market. In this role, you will report to the Senior Director, Sustainable Investment.
Your day-to-day activities will include the following:
Lead the continued integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors into the investment process with a particular focus on our Canadian assets (acquisition, asset management, development) in collaboration with our internal teams and external partners and stakeholders;
Contribute to the development of net-zero carbon roadmaps and transition plans across the Canadian portfolio of assets, complete with technical and financial impact analysis of potential strategies;
Engage with our investment partners and managers to foster value-accretive ESG improvements across our property portfolio;
Carry out analyses, monitor ESG performance and trends, and issue recommendations specific to ESG-related themes or particular regions or sectors;
Support the evolution of our sustainable investment strategy and the implementation of the related action plan;
Advise the executive committee on strategic issues related to ESG factors and promote ESG practices throughout the organization;
Participate to an internal community of stakeholders playing an active role in sustainable investment;
Help build internal knowledge and skills with regard to sustainable investment and ESG (training, awareness, tools, etc.);
Contribute to monitoring the ESG performance of the Ivanhoé Cambridge portfolio;
Represent Ivanhoé Cambridge in external events and participate in sector-specific working groups.

Master’s degree in a relevant discipline;
Seven to twelve years of relevant experience;
Technical expertise and good understanding of building-level systems and equipment that contribute to the environmental performance of a real estate asset;
In-depth understanding of, and keen interest in, the ESG-related regulatory and industry frameworks as they apply to real estate;
Understanding of carbon impacts and experience in the development and implementation of carbon reduction strategies across multiple real estate sectors and markets;
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills;
Ability to come up with creative and innovative solutions aligning ESG goals with IC’s business objectives;
Capacity to lead inter-team projects and work effectively with internal and external partners; strong powers of persuasion;
Strong collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and passionate team environment;
Excellent computer skills, particularly with Excel, Powerpoint, Power BI and others;
Solid communication skills in French and English. Oral and/or written interactions with external partners based outside Quebec (service providers, law firms, peers, bankers, brokerage firms, credit analysis firms, credit agencies, etc.);
LEED AP, WELL AP is an asset.
