Responsibilities include: 

  • Guide PMOs/ PM community to help them stay on track with project management techniques, fine-tuning approaches as needed in alignment with framework/ processes/ tools outlined by Centre of Excellence (CoE)
  • Lead PMO CoE initiatives along with business as usual work, ensuring delivery as per plan
  • Develop project management solutions and drive automation using tools like JIRA, confluence, Big Picture, Power BI or other reporting tools along with database SQL query and scripting (like JavaScript, Groovy).
  • Manage the intake, planning and delivery of CoE’s business as usual requests across all PMOs. Provide oversight and governance, partner with stakeholders to understand competing priorities and manage resource capacity
  • Represent the PMO CoE in any initiative to improve processes or solution that impact the day to day operations (e.g. Capital management, Software Delivery Lifecycle, Reporting, etc.)
  • Work in a fast-paced environment in a smaller team where you will collaborate with teams across the company to tackle technical challenges
  • Work with business units across Rogers to identify areas of improvement/issues, build requirements and implement them.
  • Manage, negotiate, and coordinate with technology and business partners on prioritization and delivery of initiatives
  • Work with business primes to evaluate JIRA and Confluence plug-ins, determine licensing needs, and develop test, installation and configuration plans of plug-ins. Work with the server and database teams to assure solid administration of the Linux servers and MS SQL environments supporting Jira
  • Document standards, guidelines and standard operating procedures for admins/users of the system
  • Proactively analyzing and making recommendations to existing portfolio project management practices
  • Resolve and escalate issues on a timely basis
  • Ensure that timely communication occurs to all stakeholders for any CoE initiatives  
  • Proactively escalate issues and risks that require program management or executive attention
  • Understand Agile and Waterfall way of working, be able to adopt to working in bi-modal environment and possess capability to shift the team to execute in both ways
  • Create and manage constructive relationships with team members, subject matter experts, stakeholders and other members of the organization
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, post-secondary education and/or equivalent work experience required.
  • 5+ years of PMO or related experience
  • Minimum 3 years of development experience on JIRA and other Atlassian product
  • Experience with SQL queries and scripting
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodology (SDLC) and best practices (e.g. PMI, Agile)
  • Proficiency using Project Management Tools including MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), JIRA, Confluence and other reporting tools
  • Experience training or mentoring people
  • Strong process and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge or working experience of financials
  • PMP or other Project Management certification is required
  • Agile certification or experience a definite asset
  • An appreciation of end-user requirements, specifically the ability to see the big picture and understand the need of all stakeholders
  • Ability to succeed in challenging and ambiguous situations and thrive in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, facilitation and analytical skills required, as well as highly effective written and oral communications abilities
  • Strong customer service & teamwork orientation required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task, while maintaining attention to detail, in a fast-paced, 'high-tech' environment required
  • Proven ability to motivate and lead a results oriented team and clearly communicate objectives. Ability to collaborate with colleagues, across the organization to get things done
