POSITION OVERVIEW
The Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of the physical security program. This role focuses on ensuring the safety and security of BDC’s employees, facilities, assets, and reputation through effective leadership, planning, and implementation of security policies and programs.
The position requires a proactive individual with a strong background in risk management, investigations, and the development and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The ideal candidate will also manage travel security aspects and oversee the Security Operations Centre (SOC), ensuring the safety and security of BDC employees and assets.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Oversee physical security across 100 nationwide offices, ensuring all systems (access control, surveillance, alarms) are operational. Coordinate with law enforcement and manage security contracts.
Develop and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to physical and travel security. Prepare regular reports on security metrics.
Lead security investigations and conduct risk assessments. Collaborate with stakeholders to address security concerns and incidents.
Manage the travel security program, providing pre-travel briefings and monitoring global security developments.
Manage the SOC, ensuring 24/7 operation and effective incident response. Oversee SOC personnel and procedures.
Implement a security awareness program, conducting training sessions and distributing educational materials.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Security Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate security management, with a focus on physical security
Proven experience in conducting investigations and risk assessments.
Strong knowledge of security systems and technologies.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications such as CPP (Certified Protection Professional), PSP (Physical Security Professional), or similar.
Experience in managing security for a multi-site organization.
Familiarity with travel security programs and global risk management.
Experience in managing or overseeing a Security Operations Centre.
Hours may vary due to operational needs, including occasional nights and weekends. Be “on-call” after normal business hours, including weekends and holidays. Travel within a limited geographic area, with occasional travel to other locations across Canada, as required.
