What is the opportunity?
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to join our HR Technology team as a Lead Workday Technology Specialist for a permanent role.
You will be part of a dynamic team and will provide design, build, testing and deployment support to Workday Integration’s, including being involved in assessing the impact of existing / new programs and business acquisitions that will need to be migrated into our existing Workday landscape. Working collaboratively with partners across HR, related business groups, and our Technology partners you will deliver system changes in a thoughtful, thorough and consultative manner. The successful candidate must be able to foster positive relationships, be solution oriented and have a keen attention to detail. As a subject matter expert, you will be responsible for staying up to date with best practices and Workday enhancements and roadmap.
What will you do?
- Contribute to the on-going design and enhancement of the HR solution in Workday to reflect RBC HR strategy and requirements with an integration focus.
- Engage with HR Business & Technology Partners and key stakeholders to gather business requirements and then translate into design document for Workday integration build ,deployment and Support.
- Coordinate testing activities
- Identify gaps between business requirements and Workday functionality and recommend technical solutions
- Provide ongoing support for Workday Integrations, including troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- Stay current with Workday updates and new features and advise clients on how to take advantage of them.
Technical Analysis and Consulting
- Assesses and analyses integration requirements, current state environment and technology platforms to define and propose solution that meets functional integration needs across the Workday eco-system, including a future HCM solution and multiple 3rd party internal/external systems.
- As an Integration Developer focus on building integration solutions ensuring successful deployment using various integration product technologies/tools and services.
- As an integration developer build strong, sustainable relationships with the business and functional team, by joining them in workshops to elicit their needs and understand their wants which meets the business requirements.
- Identifies technical issues and risks and defines mitigation approaches working closely with delivery and operations teams.
- Works with impacted/dependent groups to coordinate integration across systems.
- Collaborates with all team members to ensure specialty skills and capabilities are effectively used to implement solutions and that integration knowledge is shared across the team.
- Participate in detailed design sessions for identifying, tracking and resolving issues related to integration design/build.
- Ability to understand integration interdependency and mitigate issues arising due to those dependencies.
- Stay up to date with emerging trends and new functionalities in areas related to the Workday integration and other domains.
Planning, Implementation , Support & Business acquisitions
- Get actively involved in Global Design Workshops to proactively raise concerns or provide input whenever needed.
- As an Integration Developer help manage the integration deliverables associated with the HCM project & Workday Implementation.
- Work with the internal IT teams to gather enterprise level requirements for integrations. (e.g., integration delivery and retrieval mechanism as per the enterprise standards, Public & Private Key Management, etc.,)
- Work closely with the QA team to help them understand the integration design, architecture and functionalities while managing the testing use cases.
- You’ll understand where blockers form and you’ll track issues and risks, working with the PMO and other team members to mitigate them
- Act as a Workday champion in delivering change and rolling out new features to the local teams.
- Participate and provide feedback on project implementation plans and support requirements.
- Collaborate with the payroll team for issue resolution, testing, deployment and ongoing payroll support.
- Vendor management skills, know how to involve appropriate party.
- Demonstrate ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks at a time.
- Demonstrate ability to take initiative and ownership with focus on providing solution which works best for all the stakeholders.
- Quick Decision-making process to know, when to push back, when to escalate and make sensible decisions taking a balanced view of requirement.
- Ability to drive the CR process specific to integration.
- Sound understanding of functional domain to analyze impact of functional CR on integrations.
- Provides forward-thinking technical leadership for integration design and development with understanding of current and future TOM.
- Identify and solve issues leveraging platforms such as Workday Community
Relationships & Communication
- Works closely with Lead Architect to continuously ensure alignment with business and technology strategy with an integration focus.
- Effectively communicates and builds rapport with team members, stakeholders and interfacing groups using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close.
- Facilitates small to large group meetings for technical design/architecture, decision making, problem-solving and task implementation.
- Prepares and delivers presentations to business and technology partners and senior management, selecting the appropriate approach based on the audience.
- Resolves technical conflicts/issues and escalates to others as appropriate.

Development & Coaching
- May act as team leader
- Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions and provides day to day direction, expertise, feedback, coaching and development to build the capability of more junior staff.
- Continually enhances skills and builds knowledge in all aspects of the organization, the business and information systems.
- Demonstrate expertise in Workday Integration and IT infrastructure.
- Willing to widen expertise and obtain Workday certifications in identified domains.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
- 4+ years’ Workday Integration experience.
- Workday certification’s in one or more modules including integrations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interact with business partners at all levels of the organization to collect and document integration requirements
- Understanding of PMO Standards and Methodology
Nice-to-have:
- Experience working on Large ERP implementation / BAU Projects
- Experience in financial services industry and HR project management
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies
- Experience with other HRIS, payroll, or financial systems, such as SAP, Service Now, Beeline.

Job Summary
