Job Description

RBC Royal Bank is seeking a core banking expert for our US Cash Management Technology. This is a green field project to build a brand-new system to serve our corporate clients. You will be heavily involved in shaping the future technology landscape of RBC, by delivering key business values for a transformational project in our Banking Technology while implementing strategic components servicing across all RBC functions defined in our roadmap.

What is the opportunity?

RBC is seeking a Lead Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist for our US Cash Management Technology. This is a green field project to build a brand-new system to serve our corporate clients. You will be heavily involved in shaping the future technology landscape of RBC, by delivering key business values for a transformational project in our Banking Technology while implementing strategic components servicing across all functions defined in our roadmap.

The Lead QA Specialist will be responsible for leading the implementation, control, and distribution of all Quality Assurance practices, standards, methodologies and metrics. You will accomplish this with teamwork and collaborate with developers, business stakeholders and the vendor teams to ensure solutions are aligned to business and technology strategy.  With a can-do mind set, you will need to be an expert level organizer to resolve business problems in a structured and systematic manner.  You are not afraid of challenging the team on technical details and be able to think functionally.

What will you do?

  • Supporting Quality Assurance team on programs or projects. Conducting program reviews and complex process audits; assisting in major audits/reviews of programs and subcontractors.
  • Evaluating and reviewing products and processes; providing status reporting to Quality Assurance and site management. Involving senior management to resolve deficiencies or compliance issues in a timely manner as needed.
  • Monitoring adherence to quality standards in the development and implementation of production applications. Monitoring the effectiveness of the assurance process.
  • Assisting in planning and estimation of Quality Assurance support for new programs and projects. Helping to establish quality standards to be universally applied throughout the site, recommending quality improvements.

What do you need to succeed?
Must-have

  • Good understanding of web application and API architecture patterns
    • Hands on experience with manual API testing based on tools like Postman, and API testing automation.
  • Expert Experience with test planning and test case design
    • Experience with managing test configuration, test data and environment to ensure repeatable test automation.
    • Hands on experience with automating web applications
  • Expert experience with quality management tools such as JIRA, and quality management process
  • Experience working with Core Banking, Liquidity & Virtual Accounts Management 
  • Experience working within an agile team and familiarity with agile methodology such as Scrum or Kanban.

Nice to have

  • Hands on experience with automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Cucumber, Robot, WebDriver or equivalent
  • Scripting languages such as shell, python or perl for process automation
  • General database skills such as SQL
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in Core Banking, Deposits, Payments and/or Cash Management domains (DDA, Payments, Funds Transfer, SWIFT /Messaging, Trade Services.
