JOB SUMMARY 

The position is responsible for the goods coming in and out of the Student Housing & Community Services warehouse space which is used to hold supplies for the conference operation (linens, amenity items, signage etc).   The position will receive and redistribute laundry and miscellaneous supplies to support Conference and Hospitality operations from May to August.  This position is seasonal and requires the flexibility for working various shifts including day, evening and weekend shifts. 

 

ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS 

Reports directly to the Associate Director, Accommodations, works closely with Conference Sales and Services Managers, Facility Operations, External vendors, and Housing & Community Services staff.    

 

WORK PERFORMED 

General duties: 

  • Receives, unpacks, shelves and labels supplies coming into the warehouse. 
  •  Distributes supplies and clean linens to conference buildings on a daily basis to meet operational requirements  
  • Ensures Laundry is ready for pick up by supplier on designated days. 
  • Receives clean linens and prepares for distribution between conference and hotel buildings. 
  • Completes daily checks of buildings, including Quality Assurance of empty units, collection of Lost & Found Items, and distribution of visitor information as needed 
  • Maintains the warehouse in a clean, neat and organized manner.   Ensures all product boxes are labelled 
  • Completes daily shift reports 
  • Provides inventory checks once a month and performs a thorough inventory count at end of season 
  • Reviews inventory for damage and recycles or discards as necessary. 
  • Provides recommendations on ordering new supplies to keep inventory at a predetermined level. 
  • Assists in Conference setups as needed.  
  • Other general duties as required. 

 

CONSEQUENCE OF ERROR 

Errors of judgement, inappropriate decisions on procedures or policies and untimely completion of linen distribution could negatively impact the conference operation, stall vendor housekeeping schedule and impact room inventory sales.   

Errors in inventory counts at year end can impact the ordering of new inventory and available stock for the following conference season.   

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED 

Works independently and within teams under the general direction of the Associate Director, Accommodation. 

SUPERVISON GIVEN: 

None 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.  Minimum 6 months experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience with a proven work history showing the ability to work independently and complete tasks on a timely manner.  Valid Class 5 driver’s license is a requirement and a history of driving a moving truck or large vehicle is necessary. 

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, plan and execute work assignment 
  • Experience with Microsoft applications 
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical work for a full shift 
  • Required to lift up to 50lbs daily 
  • Assume uncomfortable and awkward positions, and work outdoors 
  • Ability to perform work safely within work safe guidelines 
  • Required to have a Class 5 driver’s license  
  • Experience with 5 Ton trucks and automatic lifts 
  • Familiar with Campus Residence Facilities
