Your Opportunity

Our Alberta North Team has an opportunity for a Landscape Architecture Team Lead to join our Community Development practice. Working within a multi-disciplined practice, you will be working side-by-side with a great team of Landscape Architects, Planners, Urban Designers, Wetland Specialist, Civil Engineers, Transportation Engineers, Mixed-Mobility Experts, Architects, River Specialist, Arborist, Wildlife Specialist and Visualization Artists. Stantec’s practice in Alberta North is involved in projects throughout North America and includes exciting and unique design opportunities in both the public and private sector.

This position will provide the opportunity to participate in, and be an important part of, an international practice with over 230 landscape architectural staff across the globe.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Community Development Leadership, including other team leads on the below.
  • Accountable for overall employee engagement of the Community Development Landscape Architecture team.
  • Ensure compliance of all Landscape Architecture team members with Stantec's policies, practices, procedures, and protocols.
  • Will act as an ambassador for promoting communication and collaboration within Community Development and across other business lines.
  • Maintain and develop contacts with key clients in the region by taking part in business development activities.
  • Assist with design, detailing, and oversee production of working drawings for both internal and external clients;
  • Manage and/or assist on complex private and public projects;
  • Steward creative thinking and resilient design practices balanced with a solid business approach;
  • Lead and/or assist with a variety of proposals and market outreach;
  • Play a role in maintaining and growing the design reputation of the Landscape Architecture team; and
  • Perform other duties as may be required.

Qualifications

Your capabilities and credentials:

  • Local experience in working with surrounding municipalities and private developers not a must, but would be considered a benefit;
  • While not required, a working knowledge of design software such as AutoCAD, Land F/X, Adobe Suite, etc. is considered a bonus;
  • Proven design and technical knowledge of built environments as shown within a personal portfolio of completed projects;
  • Must be strong with both clients and staff with excellent soft skills in regard to leadership, mentorship, business development and communication;
  • Should possess a desire for quality design and the ability to detail and document their ideas;
  • Experience with client relations and complex projects;
  • Excellent oral, written, and graphic communication skills. Ability to present ideas and lead strategic discussions is a must; and
  • Proven ability to turn design into working drawing and execute their implementation onsite.

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited Landscape Architectural program is required;
  • 3-5 years of fulltime experience in a professional office setting focused within the fields of landscape architecture;
  • Should be licensed, or have the ability to be licensed in Alberta for the practice of Landscape Architecture;
