Your Opportunity

Our Markham Ontario office has an opportunity for a Land Development Construction Coordinator. Working as a member of Stantec’s GTA Community Development team, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of residential, ICI and public sector projects for some of the most prominent private developers and Municipal clients in the province.

Your Key Responsibilities

Working in conjunction with the Senior Land Development staff, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading all on-site inspection activities to record as-constructed conditions and verify conformance with the approved engineering design and associated contract documents across multiple projects.
  • Identifying and documenting site-related construction challenges, and consistently communicating these to the Project Team for prompt resolution.
  • Maintaining daily photographic records to document construction activities and regularly archiving these records.
  • Quantity surveying, construction progress monitoring, and preparation of daily reports and weekly erosion and sediment control monitoring reports.
  • Participating in pre-construction meetings and on-site construction progress meetings with project stakeholders, including documenting the discussion and action items for distribution to the Project Team.
  • With support from the Project Contract Administrator, preparing construction progress payment reviews and the issuance of Payment Certificates, including tracking and reviewing, extra work claims, contemplated change orders and/or site instructions for out-of-scope work.
  • Serving as a main point of contact on site for the Contractor, the Municipality, the Client, and any other project stakeholders.
  • With support from the Project Contract Administrator, reviewing requests for information, construction schedules, shop drawings and other contractor submittals.
  • Maintaining red-lined as-constructed drawings and (if applicable) conduct basic AutoCAD Civil 3D updates to design drawings to reflect as-constructed conditions for submission to Municipalities or other project stakeholders as needed – Basic AutoCAD Civil 3D drafting training will be available for those interested in developing drafting skills. This is not a mandatory function for this role.
  • Support the Project Contract Administrator and the Design Engineer in resolving unforeseen design challenges in the field.
  • Support the Project Contract Administrator in preparing Tender Documents that will form the construction contracts for our clients – as well as cost estimates as needed for Development Agreements and/or Client development budgets.
  • Other duties as may be necessary in supporting the Stantec GTA Community Development team as your skills in the land development Industry evolve.
  • Travel within the GTA and surrounding area will be required.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • The ability to work with limited supervision and effectively prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office software, particularly Excel and Word. Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is considered an asset.
  • Valid Ontario Class ‘G’ Driver’s License and dedicated access to a reliable vehicle for use on / off project sites.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the Project Team, Clients, and Contractors in the resolution of construction issues.

Education and Experience

Post-secondary education in an accredited Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering program or the equivalent in education and experience is preferred. Experience in the Land Development Construction Industry is an asset but not mandatory.

Position will work in both a field and office setting. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Position has possibility of overtime to align with Contractor construction schedules. Must be available to travel throughout the GTA and surrounding area when needed – personal vehicle mileage is eligible to be expensed in accordance with CRA guidelines.
