The WSP network team is a globally distributed team consisting of network architects, network engineers, and network administrators. The global network team are accountable and responsible for a dynamic, and rapidly growing global network comprised of over 1200 connected offices, over 17 data centres, and used by approximately 70,000 employees.
As a manager of the global network services operations team, you are responsible for day-to-day management of the globally distributed team of network engineers, and network administrators. Mentoring, motivating, and inspiring members of the team to fulfil the requirements of their role, achieve their objectives, and develop as individuals.

A day in the life:
- Conduct regular one-to-one meetings with team members.
- Engage in the performance management process for all relevant team members conducting regular performance reviews and completing an annual salary review.
- Set objectives for the team. Monitor the progression and completion of these objectives to ensure successful execution.
- Help team members build personal development plans, providing support where required for these to be achieved.
- Govern third party providers of IT services to ensure those services are being delivered according to contract and within SLA.
- Support the annual IT budget process by providing input and direction as it relates to network services.
- Review, prioritise and allocate team resources to incoming resource demand requests from the business and project management teams.
- Serve as a key escalation point for network operations and IT network delivery issues.
- Lead, mentor, motivate and inspire members of the network team.
- Identify standards and support the team when authorization for deviations from standards are needed.
- Review the effectiveness and efficiency of existing processes seeking for continuous improvement.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with other internal departments and external third parties.
- Create and/or implement communication/training materials to be used by the team.
What you'll bring to WSP ...
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- At least 8-10 years relevant and practical experience in network engineering, and operations
- Experience working in a management or team leader role within network operations.
- Experience working within a large enterprise with a distributed workforce.
- Ability to convey complex or technical information in a manner that others can understand.
- Solid interpersonal skills, establishing rapport and working well with others.
- Ability to work collaboratively and influence across a matrix environment.
- Highly Organized, Attentive to Detail, and Coachable Excellent written and spoken English.
- Ability to manage individuals who are distributed geographically.
- Strong organization skills (set priorities, meets deadlines, multiple simultaneous projects) and excellent documentation skills.
- Excellent analytical and diagnostic problem-solving skills with the ability of providing solutions to identified problems.
- Demonstrated experience in understanding and demonstrating compliance with information security requirements.
- Knowledge and experience in performing information security practices in the management and delivery of infrastructure and operations.
