Job Summary

The Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) is one of the strongest defined benefit pension plans in Canada, helping Ontario's healthcare workers build the foundation for a financially secure retirement since 1960. HOOPP’s Plan Operations, Investigations and Financial Recovery Support team is looking for a student intern. Reporting to the Director and Lead, the successful student will assist in the development and implementation of a variety of assigned projects, such as reviewing member files, researching invalid addresses, trying to locate contact information for unlocatable members and other assigned initiatives.

This is a great opportunity for students to gain practical experience and learn more about the operations at HOOPP. As an intern, you will have the chance to work on meaningful tasks as it relates to our members, improve your skills, and collaborate with professionals in the field.

What you will do:

  • Supporting knowledge and learning management systems

  • Assisting with communication activities

  • Interacting and collaborating with staff members

  • Performing office administration duties

  • Any other duties that may be deemed appropriate to assist managers or team members

What you will bring:

  • Enrolled in a college or university program with a focus on business administration, commerce, or communications

  • Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite and Excel

  • Possess excellent problem-solving and research skills

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness are key, as is the ability to interact effectively with senior staff and external counterparties

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are a must

  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills

  • Share HOOPP’s core values of accountable, compassionate and trustworthy

This role provides a great opportunity to apply these skills and values in a professional setting, while also gaining valuable work experience. Every internship is a learning opportunity, so even if you don’t have all these skills yet, you’ll have the chance to develop them during your time at HOOPP.

 

The expected hourly rate range for this role is $21.00 to $31.00

 

The actual hourly rate offered to the successful candidate may vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, individual's expertise and level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered.
