The University of Windsor’s Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences invites applications for the position of Head, Department of Political Science for a term of up to five (5) years, commencing July 1, 2023. The candidate must hold a tenured position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Windsor and must be qualified to fulfil the duties and responsibilities of Head as stipulated in Schedule A of Senate Bylaw 5.
The Department of Political Science is a dynamic environment. We are engaged in exciting and important scholarship and education across Bachelors and Masters level programs. The Department of Political Science in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (FAHSS) has 15full-time faculty with broad research interests. We are searching for a scholarly leader who supports our commitment to research and education and can foster an environment of shared governance, transparency, collegial collaboration, democratic participation and a vision for alumni engagement and fundraising. Our ideal candidate will have: a clear innovative vision for extending our Department’s regional, national, and international reach in research; experience in supporting and enhancing teaching and community engagement; experience in attracting external research funding; experience with student recruitment, classroom and student experience at the Undergraduate and Graduate levels; a demonstrated track record of peer-reviewed publications in national and/or international peer-reviewed journals; a vision for mentoring students and colleagues; experience supporting Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Decolonization initiatives within the Department environment.

- a letter of application, including a vision statement describing the applicant’s continuing research program (up to 1 page) and a statement of teaching philosophy and academic program development experience (up to 1 page);
- a detailed and current electronic curriculum vitae (E-CV);
- a preliminary vision for the Department (up to 2 pages);
- a statement of commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Decolonization (up to 1 page); and
- the names and contact information for two (2) referees who can be contacted at a later date to provide letters of reference (referees can include departmental colleagues).
