The Opportunity:
WSP is currently seeking a Intermediate Land Development Designer to join our Municipal Engineering department, located at our Kitchener office. Reporting to the Manager this position will be responsible for CADD Civil 3D, field inspection, and project management on municipal projects.

A day in the life:
- Contribute to engineering design assignments in a team environment;
- Participate in the development of the concept, preliminary and detailed engineering drawings, designs and plans, including plan & profiles, sections and details, for design, tender, construction and as-constructed drawing sets, and contract documents;
- Construction inspection on projects in Kitchener and surrounding areas;
- Issue field review reports and help contractor administrator issuing proposed changes and site instructions to the contractor.
- Resolving construction issues with the assistance of the site project manager and field supervisors;
- Quantity measurements, daily reporting, and participation in construction meetings;
- Completion of construction as-built for record-keeping/approval purposes;
- Provide assistance to project manager with day to day project operations;
- Communications/scheduling with city/municipal inspectors on assigned projects to ensure compliance with contract standards/specifications;
- Preparation of specifications and reports;
- Other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring to WSP ...
- Degree in civil engineering from an accredited Canadian university or college;
- Minimum 5 years experience
- This position requires the successful candidate to have a valid driver’s license. The successful candidate would have to provide proof that s/he has a valid driver’s license upon being hired;
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is an asset;
- Excellent MS Word and Excel abilities;
- Ability to take initiative and attention to detail;
- Ability to work in a team environment;
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specs;
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal, including teamwork and interpersonal abilities;
- Comfortable in working independently in both an office and field environment; and
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
