IMS SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER

Job Description

What will you do?  

This position will be responsible to provide software support and technical direction for the evaluation, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of IMS and associated vendor products and/or RBC written code that runs in the Guelph Computing Center and the six production computing centers. These products and RBC written code provide infrastructure services and capabilities required to support RBC's business applications on the mainframe to properly service RBC clients.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have  

  • Able to change and monitor IMSplex processing parms to ensure the IMSplex executes at optimum performance and resource utilization.

  • Identify opportunities for tuning IMS performance to ensure SLA requirements are maintained or exceeded. Recommend strategies to drive down cost and improve efficiencies with IMS software and RBC written code to ensure optimal use of available resources.

  • Install & support multiple IMSplex configurations, including IMS Connect regions, supporting WAS & MQ transaction inputs, Omegamon/IMS monitoring and Db2 back-ends, across 2 development LPARs, 5 testing lpars & 9 production LPARs, running numerous applications, all with high availability production requirements.

  • SMP/E experience.

  • IMS security experience (RACF preferred) to ensure IMS and IMS applications are securely managed.

Nice-to-have 

  • Fast Path DEDB experience.

  • Maintain an excellent understanding of IMS technology as well as interfacing technologies, such as Db2, MQ & WAS, in order to identify and resolve IMS problems.

  • Previous IMS audit and governance experience.

  • Omegamon/IMS monitoring, IMS Connect Extension experience, IMSPA form creation experience.

  • Provide expert technical advice to operations staff in GCC and NCC, application developers and other sysprogs, as requested to assist in their education or resolution of their problems.

Job Summary

Implements and supports IMS software and associated tools/utilities which provide the infrastructure for RBC's business applications. As a senior, applies extensive, in-depth knowledge, skills, and practices to provide consultation to developers, Operations, systems programmers and different levels of RBC's management.
