Your Opportunity

Stantec is seeking a Hydrogeologist to join our team of Hydrogeologists and Water Resources professionals in our Vancouver or Calgary office. This position is anticipated to consist primarily of groundwater modeling work, with potential field visits and/or hydrogeological testing as projects require. Other office work may include compilation, reduction, and analysis of groundwater physical or chemical data, proposal preparation, and reporting.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to safe work practices and company/client guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner;
  • Conduct groundwater modeling using a variety of modeling platforms (MODFLOW, FEFLOW, LeapFrog etc.);
  • Conduct aquifer testing (slug tests and pumping tests) and data analysis;
  • Interpret analytical laboratory results;
  • Perform data analysis and data visualization utilizing GIS, Surfer or other three-dimensional data-visualization software;
  • Support writing of technical proposals and reports; and
  • Fulfill Project Manager roles such as planning, execution, and delivery of hydrogeology-related projects.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • 5 years’ experience with groundwater and/or contaminant transport modeling (FEFLOW, MODFLOW, and AQTESOLV)
  • Experience with hydrogeological characterization work including aquifer test design and analysis and technical report writing;
  • Excellent organizational, technical, leadership, written and oral communication skills;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Knowledge of database software platforms is considered an asset;
  • Must pass drug test, background check, physical, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving policy;
  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds; and
  • Be able to work in the field in semi-remote locations.

Education and Experience

  • 5 years of experience as a Hydrogeologist or Water Resource Engineer;
  • Minimum of a B.Sc. in Geoscience, Engineering, Math, Physics (or related field) is required with M.Sc. preferred; and
  • Professional registration is preferred, but not required.

Typical office environment working with computers; Stantec offers a flexible work environment (a hybrid model of working in the office and at home).
