The Opportunity:

WSP is seeking full time workers for the position of Junior Geotechnical Field Technician within the London Ontario operation .  This exciting opportunity will allow you to develop your technical skills in the field with like-minded professionals in a leading global professional consulting firm.

A day in the life:

• You’ll be providing technical services in a field, laboratory and office environment;
• You’ll be supervising and carrying out site geotechnical inspections of construction work and materials testing;
• You’ll be conducting in situ testing of various materials on construction sites, compaction testing and testing of concrete and asphalt;
• You’ll perform sample collection and laboratory testing on construction materials;
• You’ll prepare summary letters based on the results of the field and laboratory testing;
• You’ll participate in a team environment and demonstrate a “Safety-First” focus;
• You’ll work with and provide support to other members of the Construction Support and Ground Engineering groups in assisting with other field, laboratory and office activities as required.

What you'll bring to WSP ...

• College technical diploma in a related discipline (civil, construction, geotechnical, environmental);
• Multiple relevant years of practical experience would be an asset.
• Currently holding CCIL certified for concrete testing would be a benefit;
• Strong people skills and a desire and ability to work in the field within a team environment;
• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written);
• Must own a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage and hold a valid driver’s license;
• Be able to lift, move and carry up to 50 lbs. samples and field equipment; and
• Being available for extended days and work weeks as required due to contractor schedule and field assignments.
