This role delivers critical financial analysis for the organization. Key responsibilities include evaluating daily operations, managing month- and year-end close processes, and contributing to strategic ad-hoc projects. With significant autonomy, this position also demands strong collaboration across both Syncrude and the broader Suncor enterprise.Minimum Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree
Six years of related experience
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
The ability to self-manage time and make effective decisions
Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities
Sound communication and relationship building skills
Ability to translate complex analysis into meaningful business insights
Continuous improvement mindset
Understand the need for and use of key performance indicators
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of products with a strong working knowledge of Excel
Proficient in use of site information systems
Understand the business planning and budgeting process for mining
Responsibilities:
Optimization Analysis
Supporting the business with financial analysis for Optimization and Transformation initiatives
Rent vs Purchase Analysis
Development of cost tracking tools
Capital equipment evaluation
Budget and Business Plan
Wave initiatives
Benchmarking and KPI development and interpretation
Insourcing vs Contracting Strategies
Standardization of Cost Models and Templates
Other Ad-hoc requests
Financial Analysis
Supporting the business with deeper analysis on month end and year end cost drivers to determine areas of improvement
Tracking of KPIs ($/tonne, $/SMU, etc.)
Support Cost Projections for defined reporting periods
Location and other Key Details:
This is an office-based role. You will work out of a Syncrude location in Fort McMurray
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
