The Senior Financial Analyst provides business partnership support to specific business lines within LifeLabs Core business, as delegated by the Manager Finance.  
 
This includes any new lines of business, that are considered beyond the core such as lines within the “New Customer Relationships and Beyond the Labs” strategies and / or the National Support functions, such as Information Technology, Finance, Public Relations, BD, Marketing and Human Resources.  
 
Activities will be delegated across new B2B opportunities, new Health Franchises, Digital Strategies (including Excelleris), Wellness Partnerships and new Consumer Strategies.  This position will be responsible for the capital planning, budgeting and forecasting processes as per the delegated business line.  Using analytics and financial modelling to advise, this position provides the business with the data to identify opportunities to maximize both the top-line growth, bottom-line margins and cost optimization initiatives for delegated business segments across Strategic Initiatives, Excelleris and / or National Support functions.  If the delegated business line is completing any RFPs for customer or vendor contracts, the Analyst will help to support the recommendations to drive improved business performance through optimal pricing. 
 
This position is responsible for completing monthly business unit performance reviews to monitor performance, the annual budget and forecast process updates, the 5-year plan and any financial modelling / business cases required to support current and future impacts of opportunities for these new strategic initiatives and support functions for the delegated business segments.  
 
Accountability:

  • Monthly Business Unit Performance Reviews:  Working in conjunction with either the National Support segments as have been delegated by the Sr. Manager Finance: Strategy and Capital Planning establish a working partnership and framework to analyze and communicate results of these strategies and business units on a monthly basis.   This framework will include traditional variance analysis and performance monitoring, visual dashboards to measure in-process metrics as well as progress / tracking on the achievement of any segment specific initiatives.
  • Annual Budget, Forecast Updates, Capital Planning and 5-year Plan Development: Lead the processes specific to the delegated segment across National Support segments of the business to develop the annual budget, corresponding “year to go” forecast updates (at least 3X per year) and the annual 5-year financial plan for Life Labs.  Ensure alignment of plans across all stakeholder groups.  
  • Annual Capital Budget, Forecast Updates and 5-year Plan Development:  Lead the processes specific to the delegated segment of the business to develop the annual capital plan corresponding “year to go” forecast updates (at least 3X per year) and the annual 5-year capital plan for Life Labs.  Ensure alignment of plans across all stakeholder groups.  
  • Capital consolidations for the entire capital budget and actual spend, including month end reporting, consolidating variance explanations, and leading budget consolidations.
  • Analytics and Business Partnerships:  Develop analytical frameworks and tools to assist delegated segment of either the National Support segments of the business in making data-driven decisions, including pricing activities, new business ventures, new product lines, margin analysis, capital investments, RFP activities for both vendors and customers, contract negotiations, licensing and acquisition opportunities, and more broadly any other innovations, strategic initiatives and ad hoc analysis as required to enable business decisions.  Leverage tools to enable business case development and documentation, inclusive of both capital requirements and investment returns / payback.  
  • Ability to perform ad hoc projects in support of the Head of Commercial Finance or the Sr. Manager Finance: Strategy and Capital Planning

 
Required Experience

  • University degree
  • Accounting Designation, CPA and /or MBA (or working towards one of these designations)
  • Strong analytical and business planning skills in order to solve problems and research and escalate issues, when necessary
  • Good understanding of finance processes and data requirements 
  • Developing management presentation capabilities 
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle, Oracle Cloud, SAP, EPM application suites preferred) 
  • Experience working with reporting and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
  • Strong computer and reporting skills with an advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Word
