We are currently looking for a highly curious and self-motivated individual with an aptitude of process improvement and financial analysis to join our Corporate Finance Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team at J.D. Irving, Limited (JDI).
Based out of our Head Office in Saint John, New Brunswick the successful candidate will have the opportunity to partake in a hybrid work schedule (3 days in the office, 2 days remotely).

This is a fast-paced environment working within a team that is exposed to senior management. In this role, you’ll be helping drive value by improving the FP&A at JDI. Reporting to the Team Lead, you will have the opportunity to:

Corporate Finance and Analysis is made up of a collection of people with diverse backgrounds and skillsets. We work closely with great teams across Finance and our operations to implement and improve finance solutions regarding financial modeling, data visualization, and analysis. We combine analytical and strategic thinking to develop a sound financial future for our organization. JDI Finance
JDI Finance has over 200 finance professionals committed to delivering real time financial insight to seven different operating divisions of J.D. Irving, Limited through process improvement, automation, and data analytics. We are an organization of dedicated financial professionals offering many careers paths within finance and beyond in the various J.D. Irving, Limited businesses.
Responsibilities include:
· Review / analyze the budgets and forecasts of the operating companies to support corporate discussions and quarterly reviews
· Support the financial management of our corporate entities including working with senior leadership to identify areas of improvement and assisting them with deeper analysis
· Review the spend within our operating and corporate entities to identify trends requiring further investigation. This will also include reviewing spend categories to ensure monitoring controls are being followed and flagging areas of opportunity to manage costs better
· Assist with preparation of internal and external presentation materials
· Analyze the data and create commentary around the data for senior leaders
· Prepare financial analysis to support financial business decisions and improve performance
· Special projects and ad-hoc analysis as required
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance, Economics, or related discipline
· Professional Accounting/Finance designation or actively pursuing (CPA, etc)
· High degree of curiosity
· High attention to detail
· Strong analytical skills
· Ability to manage tight deadlines and prioritize in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
· Strong organizational skills and a strong sense of urgency
· Familiarity with TM1, Tableau, or other analytical tools is an asset
