The Department of Pediatrics at McMaster University and McMaster Children’s Hospital are seeking full-time academic physicians to join the Division of General Pediatrics.

As a citywide Department, our General Pediatrics team is also closely associated with St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Our pediatricians manage children with a variety of general health concerns from birth to 18 years of age including common acute pediatric conditions and medical complexities. In addition to general pediatric ambulatory clinics the service provides care through specialized clinics. The service collaborates with other pediatric sub-specialists, surgical sub-specialists, and allied health professionals to coordinate care while fostering a philosophy of family-centered care.

Position Requirements:
The successful candidate will provide in-patient and ambulatory care to pediatric patients requiring tertiary level care. This position will also incorporate an academic appointment. As a member of academic faculty, successful candidates will participate in providing education to various levels of medical trainees and educational initiatives designed for postgraduate medical trainees and faculty. As an academic division, members are actively involved in educational innovation, research, quality improvement and patient safety.
This position will incorporate an academic appointment, and salary will be commensurate with the experience and expertise of the applicant. The Division of Pediatric General Pediatrics currently consists of faculty members with a wide range of clinical, academic and research interests. We offer a collegial atmosphere, a unique academic environment, many research opportunities and the opportunity to work in a growing academic department with enthusiastic colleagues.
The ideal candidate will have the following requirements:
- Preference will be given to applicants with a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a consultant pediatrician in a tertiary care center and demonstrate a strong academic record in areas of either education, research, Quality Improvement and Patient Safety or advocacy.
- Applicants should be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Pediatrics and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario.
