Your Opportunity

As a talented and ambitious Environmental Scientist you will focus on local projects and support a diverse team of environmental professionals providing services to multiple sectors. Key project responsibilities include conducting field work and achieving quality report delivery in a fast-paced, client-focused environment. The successful candidate will have a diverse skill set in multiple environmental disciplines and a passion for lifelong learning. Environmental professionals in this position will work on a variety of environmental assessment, permitting, and compliance projects throughout Saskatchewan.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting biophysical field surveys in accordance with provincial species detection protocols (e.g., rare plant and/or various wildlife surveys)
  • Providing environmental monitoring services during the construction and reclamation phases of project development
  • Conducting pre-construction surveys for nesting migratory birds, as well as wildlife and plant species at risk
  • Supporting the development of federal and provincial regulatory applications
  • Completing office tasks such as data management, analysis and interpretation, report preparation, and other general tasks
  • Complying with health and safety and quality management protocols
  • Interacting and communicating effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, regulators, and clients

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience conducting environmental monitoring activities for linear project developments
  • Experience conducting biophysical and/or preconstruction surveys
  • Experience with wildlife and/or plant identification is considered an asset
  • Ability to classify wetlands using different classification systems is considered an asset
  • Understanding of federal and provincial environmental assessment legislation and permitting requirements
  • Willingness to travel and work outdoors
  • Strong technical writing and organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ownership and initiative
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Valid Saskatchewan Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract

Education and Experience

Degree or Diploma in environmental science or related discipline (e.g., biology, geography).

At least three years of relevant professional experience.

Previous consulting experience is considered an asset.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
