Reporting to the Team Lead of Field Services and Geology, our Environmental Field Services Student will be the member of a team comprised of Environmental Specialists and other students. You will be responsible for planning and conducting field surveys (water sampling, weed management, biological terrestrial & aquatic), data control, logistics and support daily Reclamation & Environmental Planning operations at Fort Hills. If you enjoy field work, including handling fish and bugs, this role is for you!
Current enrollment in an undergraduate program in Sciences with an environmental focus, or a relevant discipline at an accredited post-secondary institution
Must be returning to full-time studies after the work term

Must have a valid Class 5 Driver's License with a good driving record
Participate in field surveys for ongoing environmental programs and collect samples such as surface and groundwater, aquatic invertebrates, vegetation, fish, algae etc.
Sample Industrial runoff and Industrial wastewater ponds.
Prepare samples for lab analysis and manage the shipments
Analyze and/or identify field samples such as Aquatic Invertebrates, vegetation and fish
Enter and manage field data into various software
Co-ordinate field logistics such as sample collection and shipping, equipment servicing, materials supplies.
Support daily operations such as equipment maintenance, contractor support, safety reports etc.
Location and other Key Details
You will work out of our camp-based Fort Hills mining site, located in Alberta’s Athabasca region, 90 kilometres north of Fort McMurray, Alberta
This Fort Hills site position will be predominantly field based with some office work required
This role requires FIFO (Fly-in-Fly-Out). Fly-in-fly-out hubs are Calgary and Edmonton
