IBM Client Engineering is a technical pre-sales agile team, helping our customers transform their business. We work directly with our customers in small teams of cloud developers, data scientists, solution architects, designers, and other experts to co-develop real business solutions. Not only will you get experience across the top brands and industries, but you will also have access to the entire IBM research, services, and product teams to help our customers succeed.
This role is hands on. You will grow your technical skills in the most current IBM Cloud and AI solutions, while leveraging open source for leading industries. You will join teams working directly with customers, defining solutions, and leading the way in how they get built in the age of cloud and AI.

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Business Technology Leader, you will have a key role to help drive our Client Engineering engagements in Canada. You will support the client account team as the technical business lead that helps identify solutions and services for our customers. You will help lead workshops, develop business points of view and business cases for client investment in IBM offerings, and will be involved in helping lead the Client Engineering engagement process from initial client contact to ensuring a path to successful adoption. You will be familiar with similar industry solutions and how they differ. You will be viewed as a technical industry expert and help build IBM eminence by contributing to reusable assets and techniques to improve adoption.

To be successful in this role you will need to:
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset and continuous learning; stay current on IBM strategies and products with hands on technical growth in data science and cloud native computing
  • Be conversant and knowledgeable about technology trends and how technology is being applied to address business challenges
  • Demonstrate strong analytic, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills combined with an agile process
  • Motivation to drive successful projects, both technical and business objectives
  • Strong professional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills

Opportunities are available in: Toronto

Training requires up to 10% travel.
Must be legally able to travel to the USA for training.
Up to 30% travel (post training) required as part of Client Engineering customer projects


Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • 3+ years of previous experience in strategic business consulting and in dealing with senior leadership levels in large, complex organizations.
  • 3+ years of previous experience working as a client facing business or technical pre-sales consultant
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and connect technology solutions to how they address the client’s business challenges
  • Demonstrated skill to develop technical value propositions, pro-forma financial business cases and impactful client proposals.
  • Working knowledge of hybrid multi-cloud architectures, microservices design, DevOps and agile coaching. Architectural knowledge of cloud solutions, modern application development and containerization/Kubernetes.
  • Experience in helping clients migrate and transform from on premise to cloud infrastructure and operations
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills
  • Must be able to travel to the U.S


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Deep knowledge and skill in strategic analysis and financial analysis.
  • Applied experience guiding cloud native development and architectures to business outcomes.
  • Applied experience guiding digital transformation in large, complex organizations.
