Highlights of the job

EPCOR’s Commercial Services is hiring for Two Full-time Engineer, Development and Infill positions – one permanent and one temporary (up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension) – based at our Rossdale Water Treatment Plant in Edmonton, AB. As a key member of our team, you’ll help shape the future of water infrastructure across Canada and the U.S. You’ll provide technical leadership and engineering support for water distribution, stormwater, and wastewater collection systems—ensuring designs meet regulatory standards, align with best practices, and support sustainable urban development.

 

What you’d be responsible for

  • Contributing to Development and Infill plans and strategies aligned with EPCOR’s goals.
  • Supporting process improvement initiatives to enhance service levels and ensure compliance with policies, standards, and regulations.
  • Reviewing timelines and quality benchmarks for EPCOR and private industry land development applications and permits; greenfield subdivision infrastructure designs; water and sewer servicing plans across jurisdictions (e.g., City of Edmonton, Arizona municipalities).
  • Providing input into updates of design standards and guidelines.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Offering real-time support to managers, engineers, contractors, and field inspectors during construction.
  • Identifying and harmonizing best practices across EPCOR’s operating regions, primarily in the City of Edmonton .

What’s required to be successful

  • Successful completion of an Engineering Degree from a recognized post-secondary educational institution is required.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA is required.
  • Cross-border eligibility for PE designation in Arizona is desirable.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the design and construction of water distribution, stormwater and wastewater collection systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of water distribution and/or wastewater collection systems.
  • The following will be considered an asset:
    • Familiarity with hydrology, hydraulic modeling, and urban planning best practices.
    • Experience with GIS and business intelligence tools.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • A mindset of continuous improvement and a commitment to safety and sustainability.

 

To succeed in this role, the engineer must demonstrate strong collaboration and communication skills, working effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders. A mindset of continuous improvement is essential, along with the ability to proactively identify and solve problems. The role requires accountability, adaptability, and a commitment to safety and sustainability.

This is a professional level position that typically works Monday to Friday (40 hours per week)
