Your Opportunity

Stantec is looking for engineers and designers with experience on large utility-scale renewable projects including feasibility assessment, conceptual design and detailed AC design of electrical renewables sites, DC collection systems design such as ground mount solar for systems up to 500MWac systems.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Work with team to provide status updates, identify additional scope
  • Review and apply project documentation including client technical and design specifications.
  • Apply knowledge of industry standards and electrical engineering design principles.
  • Work alongside lead engineer to gain knowledge of renewable energy systems, including photovoltaic (PV), Wind and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
  • Support studies engineering

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • A self-starter, able to resolve engineering design issues and develop project scope documents, technical reports, cost estimates and project proposals.
  • Participates and collaborates in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
  • Thorough understanding of design standards and codes for electrical power systems.
  • Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable energy codes.
  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications an asset.
  • Record of successfully delivering projects on-time and on-budget, while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Checks your own work for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.
  • A strong willingness to learn is crucial
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD is a requirement

Education and Experience

  • Electrical Engineer or EIT with of up to 2 years or more experience
  • Electrical photovoltaic systems experience is required
  • Prior experience in consulting for an owner or EPC contactor an asset
  • Power systems studies experience an asset
  • Protection and Controls Experience would be an asset
  • Wind and/or Battery Storage experience would be an asset
  • Knowledge of PLSCADD and Pole line design an asset
