eHealth Network Engineering DevOps Specialist
Reporting to the MEDIC Network Engineering System Specialist, the Network Engineering DevOps Specialist:
· Designs and implements cloud networks for partners/clients, as required by the Manager, Digital Health Projects.
· Plans, designs, maintains and documents MEDIC’s cloud infrastructure.
· Designs, builds and maintains a project deployment pipeline for moving MEDIC applications through the development and testing phases of development, culminating in implementation on partner/client cloud networks.
· Mentors co-operative education students through the DevOps process.
· Builds and shares cloud expertise.
· Researches new technologies and practices relevant to digital health projects.
· Assists the Network Engineering System Specialist with in-house network infrastructure problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Designs and implements cloud networks for partners/clients, as required by the Manager, Digital Health Projects.
· Design and implement secure cloud-based environments meeting business specifications while minimizing operational costs.
· Consult with clients, project lead developer and the project manager to gather project requirements.
· Investigate evaluate and select cloud technologies and tools to meet project requirements.
· Develop and recommend cloud solutions based on project requirements.
· Identify and assign tasks based on the proposed solution.
· Maintain knowledge on networking and development technologies.
· Where required, conform to international health information data exchange standards and organizations such as HL7 and IHE, as well as PHI protection legislation such as PHIPA and HIPPA.
· Write documentation on our workflows process and network architecture.
· Read and perform research into eHealth Standards to ensure network solutions meet all prescribed standards.
Plans, designs, maintains and documents MEDIC’s cloud infrastructure.
· Create policies and best practises for cloud deployments and CI/CD pipelines.
· Create and maintain CI/CD infrastructure to allow developers to efficiently develop code for Digital Health Projects.
· Oversee the management of cloud service accounts and user access.
· Identify potential cloud technologies for use in MEDIC development.
· Evaluate and select cloud technologies and tools for use by the MEDIC team.
· Oversee maintenance of secure credentials and certificates for deployed project implementations.
Designs, builds and maintains a project deployment pipeline for moving MEDIC applications through the development and testing phases of development, culminating in implementation on partner/client cloud networks.
· Consult with other MEDIC team members on cloud technologies, cloud security and CI/CD pipelines.
· Plan and implement a process for deployment of applications using Theory of Constraints and Lean management principles.
· Assign tasks to networking co-ops and ensure they are following the deployment process.
· Cooperate with software developers to gather requirements and ensure that the deployed application is fully functional.
· Maintain documentation and architectural diagrams of current deployments.
· Build and maintain expertise in cloud technologies and tools.
Assists the Network Engineering System Specialist with in-house network infrastructure problems.
· Maintain the smooth operation of on-site networking infrastructure.
· Manage internal inventory of networking equipment to facilitate remote work.
· Troubleshoot emergency outages and interruptions to business operations.
· Maintain external MEDIC resource accounts.
· Assist in MEDIC systems management.
Researches new technologies and practices relevant to digital health projects.
· Reads computer journals and whitepapers on a regular basis.
· Experiments with technologies to broaden understanding and experience.
· Creates technical summaries of new technologies.
Other duties including:
· Mentors co-operative education students through the DevOps process.
· Builds and shares cloud expertise with MEDIC and IDEAWORKS.
· Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant must have:
· A minimum of 3 year post-secondary education in Network Engineering or Cloud Engineering or related field of study; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Minimum three (3) years management of networks, development environments, deployment, cloud technologies, mobile app technologies, web technologies.
· Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.
