Major Responsibilities:
- Conducts site visits to monitor and assess residential usage of bins i.e. contamination, quantity, etc. Locates, collects, records, and photographs findings.
- Meets and works collaboratively with stakeholders i.e. residents, property managers, to communicate project information, provide specific program details, address concerns, make suggestions and provide information on alternatives/options.
- Attends public consultation sessions to assist with raising awareness of/and promote City of Toronto environmental programs and services. Educates and interacts with public/residents.
- Loads/unloads items for transportation.
- Performs various office functions such as filing, data entry, photocopying, etc.
- Responds to e-mail, phone and in-person inquiries.
- Collects information for various projects/assignments/operations.
- Inputs/retrieves/updates/maintains data.
- Operates office equipment and computers utilizing a variety of software packages.
- Operates City of Toronto passenger vehicle.
Key Qualifications:
Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:
- Experience working with the public in a front-line customer service position.
- Experience utilizing various office equipment or software such as Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
- Must possess a current Ontario Class "G" Driver's Licence or better, and the ability to obtain and maintain a City Driver's permit.
You must also have:
- Interpersonal skills and customer service skills with the ability to interact and communicate effectively with members of the public both orally and in writing.
- Must be flexible to work days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays as operationally required.
- Must be flexible to work outdoors and to report to various work locations, and work in all weather conditions
- Ability to work both independently with limited supervision and as a team member.
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to take initiative.
- Must be physically capable of performing the required duties.
- Knowledge of solid waste initiatives including waste diversion would be an asset.
- Community College Diploma and/or equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered an asset.
- Experience working in the public sector would be considered an asset.
