Position Summary:

This position, reporting to the VP Tax – North America, is responsible for the overall tax function of Sanofi Pasteur Canada, including but not limited to the areas of income tax compliance, income tax planning (both domestic and in the context of global planning initiatives), applicable indirect taxation, tax audits, andtransfer pricing .

Position Responsibilities:

  • Income tax compliance:Responsible for the preparation of quarterly and year-end tax provisions including the deferred tax analysis and reporting of same at the corporate level in France, preparation and filing of corporate income tax returns including the preparation of contemporaneous transfer pricing documentation, country-by-country reporting and accounting for provision-to-return adjustments, The incumbent also will be responsible for the calculation and submission of installment tax payments.
  • Tax planning:The incumbent must have a comprehensive knowledge of Canadian taxes as well as global tax concepts and principles.Most planning initiatives are approached and planning on a collaborative, group basis and so the incumbent must be able to work both in group setting and as an individual contributor with responsibilities for the completion of discrete tasks in furtherance of an overall objective.It is anticipated that theincumbent will participate in global initiatives as a member of the vaccines tax committee.
  • Applicable indirect taxes:Responsible for indirect tax compliance and reporting in the areas of sales and commodity taxes on a Provincial and Federal, as well as property taxes.(Some or all of this work maybe outsourced in the future, in which case the incumbent’s responsibilities in this area will be for management and oversight of the service provider).Provide guidance to accounts payable on withholding taxes under Regulation 105, and review invoices subject to withholding.Preparation and payment of monthly remittances to tax authorities, T4A-NR returns for vendors.Coordinate calculation, reporting and payment of applicable withholding taxes on dividends paid.
  • Tax audits:Management of tax audits including preparation and presentation of responses to Revenue queries, negotiation of adjustments and reassessments.
  • Transfer Pricing:The incumbent will participate in the determination of the Pasteur transfer pricing policy (including the making of recommendations for its application to the transfer pricing for new combination products and new markets) and will ensure that the policy is correctly and consistently applied in Canada as it applies to tangible goods and intangibles (IP royalties) as well as management fees.The incumbent also will participate on the Pasteur Transfer Pricing Committee.

Education and Experience:

  • Post-bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (e.g., Masters, MBA or equivalent) with a specialization of Business, Finance or Economics or a CPA with 7 years work experience.
