We are seeking a transformational HR leader to oversee Performance Management, Succession Planning, and Leadership Development for one of Canada’s top employers. The Director, Talent Development, will collaborate with various senior HR Leaders and lead a small team. This is an opportunity to have a big impact on Loblaw’s workforce through renewed talent strategies and programs that will enable business productivity and prepare for the organization’s future generations.
Responsibilities
- Build integrated talent development strategy and roadmap that enables business goals
- Develop long-term vision and framework that integrates performance management, succession planning, and leadership development.
- Continuously scan the business and external market for innovation, and then apply it.
- Manage budget, advocating for necessary resources to deliver strategies and programs.
- Ownership of talent development programs and tools
- Strategy and delivery of performance management, including goal setting, mid and year-end calibration, connected to compensation.
- Strategy and delivery of succession planning program, from c-suite roles to middle management.
- Define a new wholistic leadership development strategy and lead the establishment of programs related to skill assessments, mentorship, coaching, formal learning and more.
- Foster a culture of feedback and career development
- Establish progressive career management strategies and systems (e.g. talent marketplace or career hub) that will foster internal mobility and effective career development across a vast range of industries and skillsets.
- Oversee the creation of campaigns that influence a large colleague base around effective feedback, coaching, recognition and career development practices.
- Establish and deliver on clear metrics that drive impact
- Identify meaningful and simplified OKRs and KPIs across various components of talent development. Establish reporting frameworks and cadence for team to execute.
- Communicate results and progress to HR leaders, interpreting data to refine and optimize strategies.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, ideally in a large corporate environment.
- Proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing successful performance management, succession planning, and leadership development programs.
- Proven success leading strategic transformation, with an ability to influence people around a long-term vision, layout requirements, and then implement effectively and efficiently.
- Has experience thriving in a large, matrixed, organization and can adapt to working at various levels with flexibility and easeDeep knowledge of Talent Development functions, including processes, trends and technologies. Ideally experience implementing a Talent Marketplace and/or skills management.
- Program management – Successful track record leading complex, multi-functional projects
- Engaging and empathetic people leader who can effectively collaborate across teams.
- Experienced in managing budget and other resources.
- Degree or certificate in Human Resources, or other related fields, is ideal.
